Hi all,

I´m a totally newbie to 40k world so any help will be much appreciated.

I´m starting a SW army, I always liked their look and story but never decided... now the new SW sprues decided for me...

I´ll post my list in the proper forum http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=192859 , but by the moment these are my little progresses with the army , some sketches of the units prior the final look..

I´m sorry for the fluff purist so that I´m going to make my army a little aside of the GW standar, I´ll make my wolvies look as I want :P ...

1st sketch, a blood claw, they are the young bloods so they will look fierce and savages, all without beard, CaC wepon and pistol.

In this 1st version only have used a shoulder pad, does he look fine to you?

2nd version, big shoulder pad for the rear arm and a mini shoulder pad for the front one

3rd, 2 shoulderpad...the worst of them IMO the shoulder pad hides the arm

I´ve drilled the pistol, I saw it in many forums and think it´s worth

C&C will be appreciated, thanks in advance

Some very nice concepts here! For the first one I really like the look of number 2, with the small front shoulderpad and bigger back pad. The second blood claw looks like he may be leaning a little bit too far forward, almost as though he is tripping up, even if it is tripping up into the enemies face with his axe. The third guy is just awesome, really nice pose and combination of bits.

As these are only tacked together I assume you haven't finished tidying them up yet? There seems to be some big mold lines etc, and on the third guy you may want to get rid of the khornate symbol on his belt buckle.

Cheers, ID

you are totally right, for the time being they are only sketches to select bits and poses... all mold lines, chaos symbols (have some bitz from bersekers etc.) willbe removed...

Looking again the photos, think I´m gonna swap torsos between the 2nd and 3rd one, the wolf pelt in legs fits better the standing model rather than the running one... do you agree?

Very nice looking Blood Claws you've got there. I think you've really captured the reckless headstrong nature of them that GW describes with those poses. I prefer them with either one shoulder pad or with two normal sized pads, i'm not a great fan of the smaller shoulder pad. Maybe if he had two small shoulder pads...

I agree with you that swaping the torsos of 2 and 3 will probably look better, although the wolf pelt may hit his leg and stop you twisting the torso enough to recreate the pose.

Where are the weapons that the last one is carrying from?

I think you need to fix up your running poses a bit because they still look like they're tripping. I think the problem is the torso is situated too far forward, you need to keep the back a little more vertical. I know it sounds silly but try performing your poses yourself and photograph it from as many angles as you can get or look up photographs/watch medieval war movies. The parts and weapons you're using are spot on I'd just hate to see your work falter because your poses looked unrealistic.

thanks both, mould lines, khorne symbols etc will be removed before I glue properly all the parts..now they are only rough sketches.

@Kenmichi: yes, you are right..the look almost horizonatl, the final pose will be more reallistic.... thanks for your help

  • 1 month later...

has been a long time... but I´ve overcome mi addiction to Champions o line and use some of my time for modelling again...

A nre rough sketch for my blood claw with flamer...

I wanted to give him (as the rest of the army) a medieval and brutal look, so I added him this odd torch/fire source from the empire magician sprue...

Probably once I set him up, I magnetize the flamer arm to make it interchangeable with any other special weapon for the unit..

Hope you like it (Remember he is an sketch, moulds lines, etc will be removed once he´s assembled)

Is their Chapter Keep called Winterfell? :P

Take a drink every time we notice an ASOIAF reference? ^_^

Model poses and overall vision is looking very nice at this stage!

Haha, reference games involving alcohol are baaaaaaaaad, play the Zulu game with the film Zulu. Everytime you see a Zulu or hear someone say Zulu, you have to drink. It begets a meeeeeessy night.

And I agree with Kenmichi, tilt the head back so he's screaming ' LANNISTAAAAAAH! ' :P

another one...one more to go I think...

The raised arm will be removable, I´ll adjust it with magnets in order to change it for a power fist if I want.

I like these so far, good kit bashing and poses.

that's actually how I posed Lukas... :P'

But to OP, great poses. Can't wait to see them finished up and painted. Keep up the good work.

Overall Great, I especially like the guy that gets to swap for powerfist looks very good and fluffy, I think with you're ideas you'll make great scouts to, my brother took a similar approach to his MOTW, the normal shoulder pads are slightly big for the flesh arms, but look good, maybe if they are filled down a bit, maybe like the scouts shoulder pad.
