Hello brothers,

So I started working on a story about my chapter, the Night Angels, a while ago and I just wanted to post a snippet of it for your enjoyment. I need to explain some characters before I begin, though.

My colors: Very Dark Blue with red eyes and a shiny blue aquila. My chapter symbol is my avatar.

In the story:

-Zynk Kaladin: Chapter Master of the Night Angels.

-Zeke: an Independant character in my army.

-2nd company consists of assault marines and vanguard veterans

-Lucien Skylord: 2nd company captain

-Pallas: 2nd company chaplain

Well... enjoy. It's not professional quality but hey, i try. Comments, criticisms, complaints, anger, and revolution are welcome.

The vanguard veterans entered the Tunderhawk following Captain Lucien. They were eager to prove themselves in battle to the 2nd Company Captain once again, who was fabled for fighting like a keen eyed eagle, swooping from the skies to rend the flesh of his prey. They did not bother to even strap themselves to the Thunderhawk’s restraints; they didn’t need it. Zeke clutched his chainaxes as he wore his new jump pack; a scythe expertly placed on his back to not disrupt the machine. Though he preferred hunting his enemies on foot, Zeke would fly today. Lucien pounded twice on the door to the cockpit denoting readiness to the pilot. The lights of the Thunderhawk were replaced by the red glow of low energy diodes. Zeke stood in the red glow apart from his new brothers and placed on his skull painted mk7 helm. He heard Chapter Master Zynk’s voice was over the vox.

“…vigor and zeal we shall purge the vile xenos from the Tallgan system. The Deathskullz WAAGH shall be destroyed. This is for the brothers we lost to that bastard Skullkrusher. We shall have our vengeance!”

Zeke looked over at Pallas as chaplain of 2nd company growled in fury at Zynk’s words. Zynk had told Zeke much about the events of the Night Angels and the battles with the orks. He remembered Pallas had been severely wounded in a duel with Skullkrusher a century ago and Zeke could taste his rage. Chaplain’s were normally calm and stoic, but Pallas was full of youthful fury. Zeke understood why Zynk put Pallas in the 2nd company vanguard. His rage would do him credit on the battlefield. Lucien was also furious about the memories of the battle, but his anger was in check. Second company took many losses at the battle for Euratia and Lucien did not easily forget his brothers. Good, though Zeke, they can point their fury at the enemies lines and try to kill more than me. Hah, what a laughable idea.

“Death from above,” Zynk ordered over the vox.

The Thunderhawk shook as it flew out of the embarkation deck to the yellow planet below. It shook like angry beast ready to strike as it descended from the atmosphere, glowing from the heat of entry. The journey took a full ten minutes, but Zeke knew it was worth the wait as the bird finally leveled out its ramp opened. He could see the yellow dust of the clouds and the orange sky waiting for him. Zeke grew excited as the red light flicked green.

“Night Angels! Descend from the darkened skies and unto to field of battle! AAAARRRGH!!!” Lucien roared as he brandished his dual swords. Zeke clutched his chainaxes in both hands as he calmly walked out of the Thunderhawk after the lights changed. He was eager to get an early start on his kill count. The other warriors shouted and followed as they descended from the skies like Angels of Death.

Zork smacked the living zog out of the green beast before him. The fool actually thought he could hawk a lugie farther than the furious ork on the throwing end of the flurry of punches. Turns out Zork lost.

“I’m BIGGER than YOU! I da BOSS!!!” He continues to destroy the ork’s face as teeth and blood shot out of its mouth. Cowering grots kept their distance, but were eager to retrieve the teeth later when their master moved to beating something else. If they were lucky, they would not be at the receiving end of his fury… if.

“Now you wasting my time! Why!?” Zork obviously forgot why he was attacking the ork. He just had to make another excuse to keep his blood boiling.

“Oi! Watz dat?!” yelled an ork in the vast mob of spectators. Zork did not know who, but someone was going to get the living :) beat out of them. He let go of the twitching ork and looked up angrily seeing the mob looking at the sky. He looked up and saw a tiny dot in the sky turn into lots with lines of flame and yellow dust trailing behind them like comets.

“Why dos birdies made’o’ metal?”

“naa dos ain’t burdys dos must be planes”

“no! Dos birdies!”

“NO! DOS PLANES!” The mob turned on each other, one side pro-birdie, another pro-plane. As the dots boomed closer they formed into dark blue shapes of flying men. Zork howled in glee at the sight of war raining down upon them. Drop pods, landers, and flying men littered the golden skies of the planet full of tall yellow grass and orange leaf trees. Zork saw a flying humie with two chainaxes, his descent paralleling the ground. The ork held his choppa high as he leapt to strike the flying blue armored man. Zork last sight was a painted skull helm and those angry red eyes.

Zeke flew past the decapitated greenskin, his axes now wet with black blood. He landed in the middle of the brawling mob and backhanded his axe into an ork, ripping its stomach from its body. His other axe smashed another’s head in and the teeth hungrily gnawed on its skull while spraying blood over Zeke helm. His first axe renewed its attack and swung low felling three orks at once. A foolish greenskin thought to challenge Zeke’s furious advance with its choppa, but Zeke was faster. The Astartes sliced his chainaxes throughout the ork, dismembering the foul xenos in less than moments. The rest of the vanguard finally caught up to the axe bearing Astartes and slaughtered all but one greenskin who dared to flee its doomed fate. Zeke brandished his axe over his head.

“AAAAAAAARRRGH!!!” Zeke roared as he threw his axe at the ork catching it the back with the hungry teeth of his axe. He turned in time to see Pallas lift a trembling ork by the collar and smash his crozius into its skull. Blood splattered onto his pitch black armor and skull helm. The chaplain turned and nodded at Lucien, pleased with the efficiency of their strike. Zeke strode over to his still roaring axe and retrieved it from the spine of the murdered ork. He didn’t really know why Zynk’s 2nd company assault marines were following him. Zeke was used to being on his own, but it mattered not as of now. He had his mission and he assumed, so did they.

Lucien decapitated an ork with both his swords and turned to his men, he raised a weapon to the sky full of Imperial landers.

“Let’s kill the rest of these :cussers!” the captain declared. He charged into the horde of greenskins as the first drop pods impacted the earth letting their deadly cargo unleash walking death. A walled city rested in the distance, but before that a massive ork fortress loomed in the background atop a barren hill. That was his destination, but he didn’t care for the details of how he got there. He was just simply enjoying the trill of combat at the side of his brothers.

“Their numbers are numerous, thousands of times larger than the force we fought at Euratia!” exclaimed Lucian as he sliced an ork slugga boy in two.

“Indeed. This slaughter shall avenge our lost brothers…” replied Pallas.

“Flamers to the front!” ordered Lucien. They finally had the full force of 2nd company to bear against the greenskins and that meant the Emperor’s holy fire. Great gouts of flame consumed dozens upon dozens of orks, but for every one greenskin incinerated hundreds more took its place.

“Concentrate fire on the flanks of this xenos attack,” Lucien ordered, “this will force them unto our blades.” The flamer assault squads of 2nd company immediately flew to the very edged of the ork mob and doused them with flame and chainswords. It would only be a matter of time before the orks crumbled. Zeke smashed a chainaxe into the chest of an ork and hacked off the arm of another. With a return stroke he killed the one armed greenskin in a shower of gore and moved onto the next doomed ork. His blue armor was glossy with black greenskin blood, but not all of it was greenskin. He saw orks swarm a marine and hack him to death with crude axes and blades. Another assault marine blasted off an ork’s head, but only to have his arm taken off by a maddened ork boy.

The wounds of his Astartes enraged Zeke further and he hacked his way through with brutal force. At one point in the battle he had to take off his helmet; the volume of ork blood was too much for his helm to take and he had little time to clean his eye slits before the next kill. He killed one more, no two, no ten more orks. Damn it, he lost count. “What :cussing number was I on?” he thought. He cursed and started over.

“One, two, four, eight, eleven, thirteen…” he counted as a mound of ork corpses piled under him. Lucien’s plan had worked and they made short work of the thousands of orks in the immediate area. Zeke stood over the pile of ork corpses, which increased tenfold, and muttered “Four hundred and three? No, did I lose count again? Damn it, I need a kill counter…”

“Sir, the assault on the compound has begun” said brother-sergeant Mittalus. Zeke looked the in the distance compound and immediately saw it was surrounded by a blue tactical advance. Three Warhound titans closed the gap up to its walls destroying an entire section of the poorly constructed metal.

“We must join our brothers,” said Pallas

“Second Company advance!” ordered Lucien. Second company roared their approval and charged through yet more of the endless tide of greenskins, but Zeke was already ahead of them. The golden sky was riddled with columns of black smoke and Imperial guard landers and fighter craft still streamed to the city in the distance; the sun was almost at its lowest point. The night was coming and Zeke could smell the greenskin’s fear...
