Tybrus
OK so I got my CD yesterday and listened to it on the drive to and from work...and FINISHED IT. Ok before anyone asks I work 10 miles from my house and its like a 15-20 min drive, so the whole CD was at the most an hour. I feel RIPPED OFF!!!!! Now as for teh story, it was good, not great but good. If it had been longer would have been better, but it was to rushed. I loved the voices and "feel" they gave everything. If the story had been more then a simple short story it would have been great. I was not a Huge fan of Thunderwolves fluff wise until listening to this, and after the CD I can see it. In fact I am kind of excited about doing up my TWC now. Anyway anyone elses thoughts??? Dark Bjoern
It is a bit over an hour long. I loved it. It was nice to listen to. And i second the "doing my own TWC" thing. Lion in the Stars
Uhm, *no* CD is more than 80 minutes of audio, and most are about 50-65. What's the issue, other than price/minute? MaveriK
It was good, not great but good. I wanted it to be longer... I listen to it when I work on my minis. Some of the voices I really didn't dig. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191612-thunder-from-fenris/#findComment-2274206 Share on other sites
ReyRex
Where do you buy it from other than GW. I do think $17 buck is alot for a book. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191612-thunder-from-fenris/#findComment-2274212 Share on other sites
Theis
Just as a head's up Raven's Flight is about as long, and I was fairly underwhelmed by the story. Coverfire
Only listened to it once while driving. I thought the voice of "Arnie" was droll. I was also annoyed at the single mindedness of Thorgar (I think it was him) and the events that lead to the death of his mount - such a waste. Overall though, I rate it quite well. The_Betrayed_Spacewolf
i can understand the cost though i have not "read" the book they are selling to a very small market. unfortunately only real fans will buy it. clanfield
i liked it i agree with mav about the voices though it did make me start wanting to model some thunder boyos though ,i did like the ending though with the howl very cool. Tybrus
Yeah the ending was cool, and its not a problem so much as I was just sad to find that it was so short. I was hoping for more story to go with it. It had the making of what could have been a very good longer book type work. I also didn't know if it was a single CD when I got it or 2 or even 3, I was hoping. Yeah I love in California so hearing the "Arnie" voice was funny. When your Govonor is a space wolf the world changes "Yeah I will do it brothers!" I also agree about the waste of the mount, pissed me off. If the mount was that much mechine it would have built in air tanks or something. Anyway good not great, to short but over all good. plaguewolf
The voices, I hate the voices, it would have been better with no accent. Why did they do that? Why? But it really got me in some kind of "space wolves" mood. I give it 2,5 fangs of 5 possible. Beef
Yes I agree the accents were overdone. Better than some of the other audio books IMO. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191612-thunder-from-fenris/#findComment-2275956 Share on other sites
Emperor's Scourge
$17 for an hour that I will probably only experience once before putting it on the shelf indefinitely just wasn't worth it for me. Mr Fulgrim
I think it was good but as pointed out it could have been longer. Maybe not worth the price, but you can always download it, that’s what I did <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191612-thunder-from-fenris/#findComment-2276170 Share on other sites
Beef
I agree the audio books are definatly not worth the price, I would rather pay that kind of money for a book, but Gw seem to be quite pleased with themselves in regards to the audio books. Wispy
Prices aside... was it good? Worth your time or embarrassingly bad? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191612-thunder-from-fenris/#findComment-2277437 Share on other sites
Tybrus
Prices aside... was it good? Worth your time or embarrassingly bad? Price aside and if you can get past the REALLY BAD arnie voice, its worth the time. I have listend to it 3 or 4 times so far so take that for what its worth. If had had the option to hear it or not, and price didn't matter I would vote hear it, its worth the time. Bulweih
I had my doubts, as I read it's done by the same guy that wrote that strange Salamander story in "legends of the SM". He draws a strange picture of our chapter and in my opinion, does not grasp our character at all. As for the story itself, nyaa, much like tried and failed. Don't get me wrong, I tend to listen now and then, but "Heart of Rage" was a far better story in my view. There was no loud, proud, but foremost deadly and cunning pack of the elite of the Wolfguard of Fenris as I see them. The voices reminded me of russian soldiers....no offence, but that didn't fit for me either. Of course it would be cheaper in a perfect world, but there's no sense in starting that discussion ;) . Really looking forward to Dan Abnetts view on our beloved chapter and its primarch. nurglespuss
I really enjoyed it, i didn't mind the price at all, and it was a great way of ending a stressful day. Its now doing the rounds with my mates, and when I get it back, i look forward to listening to it again  I agree the 'voices' were needless (I prefer books voiced by one person - narator and all - Tony Robinson, Chris Barrie or Brian Blessed are good choices, hell even the accursed Bill Bryson!
