Noob Questions

Hi guys, I am new to Warhammer and have chosen Space Wolves as my army. I am having an issue finding Long Fang packs for my army though. They are not listed on the GW website and my local hobbyshop doesn't have any either. I have found some web sites that say they have them, but most of the bigger less shady looking sites do not have them, and those that do are expensive, compared to other space wolf packs.

Where did you get your Long Fangs? Conversions? From what units if so?

Also on the Wolf Priests, I already gathered you have to make your own. What unit is best for an easy conversion? I was thinking Space Marine Chaplain, but I am unsure and don't want to buy something that won't work right.

Thanks much in advance.

There is an actual long fang box, but you can do the same with the space wolves pack box and a box of space marine devastators. All packs can be made from the space wolves pack box and another (scout, tactical, assault, devs, etc.). Terminators have their own box.

To add to what prophecy said, I would absolutely recommend the SM devs + bits from the space wolves box because the SM devs come with plastic weapons. The metal backpacks and weapons from the old long fang packs are hard to match perfectly and like to fall over.

The Long Fangs box is no longer in production. It had metal heavy weapons and the old SW conversion sprue from which you could build 5 Long Fangs. So basically you can do the same with an all plastic Devastaor box set and combining/interchanging parts with the new Space Wolf box set. In fact with the new Devastators you have extra heavy weaponry and can make a complete pack of six Long Fangs.

For Wolf Priests, the easiest way to go is to buy a normal Chaplain, file down some of the iconography and add some wolf tails. If you're feeling a bit adventurous you can add the SW plasma pistol or bolt pistol and make some pelts and tooth necklaces with green stuff.

Edit: And hey, welcome to the Fang mate! B)

The SM devastator box contains 8 heavy weapons, five torsos and 6 pairs of legs.

So, combining with a space wolf pack, you can make two long fang squads with four heavy weapons and a sergeant each, and have five models left for wolf guard/bumping up your blood claws to 15. Adding the fire discipline rule and you've got some pretty meaty firepower. Furthermore, the spare pair of legs are in a crouching position; I was planning to make a dynamic conversion for a jump-pack character.

Now you need a Razorback or two in which to ship them around...

Hey bud, somewhat new to the fang, myself. I used devs and the bits from the SW sprue for my long fangs, and for my wolf priest I used basically a power armor suit, with a wolf head helmet (painted to look like bone) and black armor. I think he looks good and definately stands out as a wolf priest with his black power armor. I can post some pics later if you'd like.
