Some Questions.

My first questions is about when a weapons gets destroyed on a vehicle. For example a Dreadnought's Power Fist arm has a built in weapon, if someone destroys the PF does it destroy the built in weapon as well? Also, for a Predator, if the main weapon gets destoyed does the Storm Bolter/Hunter-Killer get destroyed as well?

Each weapon needs a separate result to be destroyed. The Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon and the underslung weapon count as 1 weapon I believe since its all one entry. Dread close combat weapons are the exception to the normal.

It is better to think of it like a vehicle has a certain amount of weapon slots. A Dreadnought for has two arm slots. If you destroy the primary weapon in a slot the secondary weapons also are destroyed. Like a Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon with a Storm Bolter or a Soul Grinder with its Maw weapons. Extra weapons like a Hunter Killer Missile or upgrade Storm Bolter on a Rhino are weapon slots unto themselves.

One more thing. In the Command Squad it says that any Veteran may take (as in not exchanging) a Storm Shield. So does this mean that they can take Storm Shields and, lets say, 2 Lightning Claws?

Yes, but the rules of the storm shield say you can never get the +1 attack bonus for a second weapon with a storm shield so its a waste of points.

Well, you can choose which load out you're using at the start of each combat per the multiple special weapons rule in the end of the assault chapter...so you could decide whether to get the bonus attack or the 3+ invuln, but you couldn't have both in a round.

 

Honestly, I recommend against this, as it's a tremendous expense in points making that model a painful loss. You want storm shields on veterans with no other upgrades as they exist to soak an insta-kill/AP3 shot and if they fail and die well...they still did your job, because your lit claw vet is still alive to fight.

Does not the special rule for storm shields state you never gain a bonus close combat attack?

he was refering to thades plane to choose weather or not to use the storm sheild and thun get the bonus attack when not using. Which you may not do because storm sheilds are equipment, not weapons, if you own a storm sheild you must always use it.
