Being dreads do they still get counter charge? Being a fallen hero id say yes but there are some people that say no to the idea! Sureley this is madness if they can charge then they must be able to counter charge because its a SW special rule ?

Care to shed some light on this for me

Under the Counter Attack general entry in C:SW it does state that all Space Wolves have the Counter Attack special rule, however - in the specific unit entries, the Dreadnoughts do not have this ability listed. As a result, I would say that they don't have it on account of the fact that everything else in the Codex except vehicles is specifically noted as having it.

While the hero interred in the Dreadnought was a serving Space Wolf - to be placed into a Dreadnought in the first place does mean he was at the brink of death and now serves essentially as a walking tank. I think any effort to give him the Counter Attack ability would be going against both RAI and RAW. A resounding no from me I'm afraid.

I belive counter attack is supposed to have something to do with the speed of the space marine, being able to respond quickly and charge someone while being charged, if they pass a moral test. Basicly you see a group of something charing at you screaming and swinging swords, you stand your ground and prepare for the attack, or you dig deep, grab ahold of your boys and charge back at them screamin all the louder.

Alas, a Dred lacks the speed for that from a fluff perspective, and it lacks the leadership check from the mechanical perspective.
