JOTWW question - Yea I know UGH

2D objects can exist on a 3D grid. Does this matter?

NO.

Why? Because simply put the power tells us what to do- we trace a line along 24" of its path, from the RP to a target location 24" away. The FAQ states the first model to be touched counts as a seperate target, and counts for LOS purposes.

So we take out our handy dandy tap measurers *never leave home without one* and measure out 24", then select a location for our new home made template- and place it. We place it "along the board" meaing perpendicular to. Why do we do this? Because were targetting models, so we obviously cant put a tape measurer or any other measuring device through our opponents models as that would be incredibly rude. So instead we do our best guess to see what is "in" our template by looking down at it and confering with our opponent in close cases just like with any other template style attack. And just like any template style attack it can only affect one level and since the rules give us no basis for selecting areas other than the table level or ground we should stick with it.

Its rather straightforward. Just because some of our opponents would like to throw up confusion doesnt mean we need to.

and just so i dont have to post another topic for a JOTWW question, how is an initiative test taken?

Besides that, people at my club have had looong arguments about hitting enemies on second floors and we resolved it as yes we can, as my group is more rules driven than fluff driven.

Initiative test , for say SM I 4 , you hit it with Jaws , now the model under effect has to roll 4 or LOWER (MC can reduce one for their roll due to being strong , but 6 is always a fail) or else it falls to the abyss

lol in your example its more of a fluff based argument is it ? lol
