New Radical Daemonhunters player

Hello all, I am looking to add a new "campaign" army in anticipation of the new battle missions book and I would like it to mesh for Apocalypse with my main army which is... daemons. I know, it really couldn't be much more blasphemous.

That being said, I was thinking about some custom objective/game markers for my daemons. The most useful Planetstrike stratagem for my daemons is easily the forward observer and that just clicked inside of my mind - I could see someone summoning daemons to the field and if anyone got too close he just stepped back into the shadows. I chose to call this character the Daemonomancer. I saw this him as one who had come into possession of a blasphemous book which allows him to summon and control daemons. This also gave me a nice easy fluff perspective from which to write batreps and other background.

Forgive the lengthy preamble but that gets us to the point now where, after considering CSM I decided to go with the idea of a radical (perhaps fallen?) Istvaanian Inquisitor. I considered Xanthite, but I don't want him to just use Chaos against Chaos, I want him to actually do evil things for what he considers to be the good of the Imperium. My local gaming group has been talking about playing some kind of fun themed campaign (as opposed to cut throat tourney play) when the new missions book comes out. I figured that this is a great opportunity to expand upon the Daemonomancer's forces.

I have decided that he was a disciple of De Marche's who had a falling out before De Marche's disgrace. He used his contacts to get in touch with some of the scattered survivors of the Relictor's chapter and bring them under his protection. To that end he saved the Battle Barge "Descensus Averno" with all hands and reported them destroyed by his forces.

Okay, anyway, that brings us up to date and I will post pics once I start building and painting them. This is to be a 100% radical list and I will not likely get any more models beyond what it will take to get me up to around 2000 points.

I have decided to induct Space Marines because I have a couple of boxes sitting in my closet and I am trying to do this on the cheap, as it were ;-). I have about 50 Cadians and I will be using them as the basis for my conversions of the Inquisitorial storm troopers - I am going to add extra armor on the thighs and flatten the faces down and greenstuff in a face shield. I will also make heavy weapons teams the same way in case I feel the need to play them as inducted guard but I am not really interested in collecting a full IG army.

So, being super competitive isn't necessary, but I don't want to be a pushover - here is what I am considering as a very rough first draft, I am working on tihs at work so don't have the daemonhunter codex but just to give you an idea - please let me know if anything is blatantly illegal.

I am also EXTREMELY interested in any links to batreps or anything else that might be of use to the blasphemous.

My paint schemes will be pretty standard - black and red for the Stormtroopers, regular dark grey for relictors - only thing I am thinking about doing on the SMs is to make them very battle damaged with scratches and dings and have all of them have scratched out the relictors symbol on the shoulder so it is more like chipped metal with bits of white paint that are still there. I will update this as my plog when I start building/painting

HQ

Inquisitor Lord with Termie Armor and some upgrades and a pretty tasty retinue

Heavy

Orbital bombardment

Dreadnought with Assault Cannon

Devastator squad

Elite

3 daemonhosts

3 deathcult assassins

1 assassin (probably culexus but not married to this)

Troops

4 Inquisitorial stormtrooper units with max special weapons

2 inducted marine squads

Fast

Assault Marines(actually, are there any fast choices for a radical?)

TL;DR - Radical Daemonhunter with inducted Space Marines - please link batreps or tips.

There isn't a whole lot of stuff out there about Radical Daemonhunters. Most feel they leave out the best part of the DH codex by the refusal to play Grey Knights.

The list you have is legal and about standard for what you'd run for Radical DH, except you'd probably want to put the ISTs in Chimeras.

Space Marine Allies can take a bike squad, assault marine squad and speeder squadron as fast attack choices.

Your other options is to take some Land Raiders for your inquisitor and any elite inquisitors you might want to take. It can make the list a bit harder.

I am putting together a radical list as well, but I'm trying to keep it more mechanized than you are. I'm thinking more along the following lines:

Lord mounted in LR (might take SM version if HS slots allow) with IST-like retinue. That means vets with melta guns and acolytes with bolters.

Daemonhosts (wouldn't be much of radical force without them).

Small IST squads mounted in Rhinos/Chimeras.

Tactical Squads in Rhinos

Scout squad

SM Dreadnought

SM Predator

I'm nearly finished painting it all up. I'm slow, so bear with me. :P

Kinda like your list there Somnicide, u got enough bodies on the table for the assasins to even get into CC before dying, or then dying but leaving your other squads more intact (not that much shot at).

IMHO vehicles arn´t a must in 40k atm, if it means that enemy Hammerheads shoots at your GK squad then u can "laugh" at him for wasting points on the thing ^_^. I mean ok u don´t have transports but they are expensive for DH anyway, u got more bodies.

I would definetely choose a Callidus assasin as the last one, she rocks and gives u some breathing room while keeping the enemy busy for a turn or two.

Radical DH will be a challenging army to play but will be able to offer you some tactical versatility as you will be inducting space marines. Here is a link that I found to a radical DH page, not much there but probably worth the look.
