Mithril hound
Yeah the title says all, im running an all all infantry wolf army, an i want some tanks. Maybe land raiders? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191842-tanks/ Share on other sites
Yeti
How many points are you running at the moment? Other than that, it depends on your play style. Land Raiders are great multipurpose vehicles, but they cost an arm and a leg. The other tanks (Preds, vindis & whirlwinds) are good ways to boost your heavy weapons and get some high impact punch. How do you like to play? What roles do you want tanks to fill in your list? Once we know these things, we can give you better advice on what tanks to get. Im not fielding any heavy support atm- as my wg can kill a russ tank a turn :). I want some thing shooty + killy. Mithril hound
Are they worth the points? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191842-tanks/#findComment-2276569 Share on other sites
Ullr Direfang
well what do you run for an army? you say more termies are on the way? i barely ever use termies in games over 1500 points, so i would say replace them if they are in your current 1k army list. but i would say go vindi, and yes they are worth their points just expect them to draw fire. LPetersson
I like both Vindies and whirlies. There are some good discussions of the pros and cons of both here and here. In short, if you go for a Vindie, take two as one will die too quickly. And other than that, it really depends on what you'll be facing and how you'll want to use them. Personally I don't really think you can go wrong with a whirlwind. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191842-tanks/#findComment-2277148 Share on other sites
Archnomad
My planned mech army that's up and coming, going to be 2500 points, (1000 points at the moment, mech wolves are a lot more expensive than infantry wolves!) contains 17 Vehicles. Bjorn, 2 Dreadnoughts, Seven Razorbacks, Three Land Speeders, a Predator, Two Rhinos, and a Land Raider. Should be quite a giggle! Hehehe.... Schertenleib
20-15 ghRP, termi WG- 2- pw-sb-TDA 1- ac-pf-TDA 1- pf-ac-TDA 1- wg WG- jump packs, and a variety of pws and fists. Looks like your running 5 Wolf Guard and have 2 equipped with Assault cannons. If that is so you don't have a legal list. Wolf Guard get one heavy weapon for every 5 models. One at five and a second at ten. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191842-tanks/#findComment-2278461 Share on other sites

Shame it won't be legal. 7 RBs + 2 Rhinos = 9 infantry choices. 3 WG squads + 6 GH/BC squads means you can take the 2 Dreadnoughts... Night Runner
I would definitely consider a Whirlwind. Don't forget that you will usually be outnumbered and the ordinance is an excellent out-of-sight support. My next choice would be a Dread. TheLastHuzzah
I can come up with 8 of 9 Rhinos/RBs but no idea where the other 1 is coming from, 2- BC Rhino 4- GH RB 2- LF RB (unless longfangs can no longer buy transports? no book in front of me) The WG Squad (3rd elite) can take the LR as a transport -Huzzah Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191842-tanks/#findComment-2278725 Share on other sites

Wildfire
That's way too wide open a question for a simple answer. If you've got lots of troops, I'd suggest a distraction or two and a lot of transports. I.e. a vindi and pred or some such, and a bunch of rhino/razors to cram the troops in. Archnomad
My Rune priest that features in most of my lists died at the hands of Hive Fleet Jormundgandr, and was interred inside a Dreadnought (counts as Bjorn), and the Inquisitor is a basic Mystic retinue, and has an Auspex etc, and is going to be modelled as a Skald, with a more kind of tribal shaman look (skulls, feathers, fetishes etc). Dirty Inquisition do have no place near space wolves, but big ol' Land Raider's do :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191842-tanks/#findComment-2280749 Share on other sites
