Legion of the Damned Army

This is a project I've been considering for some time now. And Finally got around to. An army of all the Legion of the Damned that wouldnt have been in Power armour at the time of their creation. The army is something as follows:

4x Juggernaut mounted Heralds of Khorne (One Skull Taker) as: Terminators with Close Combat weapons. (A captain and three Body Guards)

3x 10 Horrors of Tzeentch with Icon and Bolt of Tzeentch as: Scouts with A combi Melta Sargeant and a Teleport Homer

1x Daemon Prince of Tzeetch, With Bolt and Breath of Chaos as: Dreadnought with Flame Cannon, Combat arm and underslung Melta.

At this moment I have the Captain mostly done (He might yet get a banner and he still needs a base):

And finally the Daemon Prince just needs his other arm:

This looks promising my friend, a neat theme and the flames seem to be well executed :)

I would like another pic of the dread though as in the one above it looks like it's on it's knees. Probably the angle though.

I am a little unsure about the scouts with total skeleton upper bodies, 1/3 skeleton 2/3 scout armour would probably be a good mix, since IMHO fully half is a little OTT. But it's the damed legion, so they can roll with it

And I'm a fan of the skulls'n'flame style myself  *just look at my ares*

Cheers!

just to warn you, i sculpted fur just like that. and it was a B*** to paint. you might want to find a smoother way to sculpt them, it will make it alot easier to paint.

It takes a while, but the fire-effect can be pretty sweet in the end. It looks to be teh same "texture" as the flames on my ares. If you want tips on how I painted that just let me know and I'll be glad to help :)

And if you want me to remove the pic just send me a PM and it'll be gone in a heartbeat :)

I have to ask......how did you do those flames?

More or less you put a layer of the GS down. Then Take a Pin or say Dental Pick start from the top. And sort of press in and pull up in straight little lines. Follwing up on the way down. So that each row partially covers the bottom of the one before it.

Yeah I've painted flames like this before. It can be alittle anooying.

I'd be interested in hearing how you did the paint. Looks like say..red Gore, Brybrush Blazing Orange, Lighter Drybrush Yellow? Maybe?

I finished the fire around the bases of all the scouts today whilst waiting for a job interview. Will hopefully get the arms done today and work from there.

Mine were done followingly:

Primed black, base of watered down mechrite red ( covering ),

mechrite red with a little blood red,

then a few layers adding in more and more blood red,

leaving more and more of the "bottom" untouched.

Then iYanden darksun with a touch of blood,

pure iyanden followed my mixing iyanden and bad moon yellow.

Bad moon yellow by itself, and a final touch on the tips with bad moon + skull white.

Took a few attemps going back and forth a little between darker/ligher flames as well as getting the overall shade of red, orange or yellow right. But I'm happy with the end results. Hope that helps :D

Looking forward to more updates!! :whistling:

Just a thought...but you might want to have some of the flames going up the bodies or have them start a little below the waist and have a few wisps of flames curling up. Just so it looks more realistic. Great job can't wait to see more.

I have 1 more Terminator's arms to go and then Im done the build on this army basically (I still need to flame up the termies but with no Greenstuff left at my disposal that will have to wait abit.)

In the mean time I have also build some potential teleport homer backpacks for the scout squads. This is the premise of my design. Do they work?
