IA: Iron Angels

Recommended Posts

I prefer the colours already displayed in your IA, but I'm biased. ;)

EDIT:

secret caves.

Dare I ask, Ace?

Well, like it says under my picture, I live in a number of secret caves. Makes it harder for the Inquisition to track me down. ;)

Evidence suggests they only want my autograph, but I'm not quite convinced. :P

Damn you all for distracting me with you IA's!

Almost forgot the sidebar for the Tome of... Something.

I'm thinking a simple name, as well as a few details about the book - my main point is how valuable the Chapter considers it; it doesn't leave the HQ in anything less than a Landraider EVER.

EDIT: Amusingly, according to one online thesaurus, 'albatross' is a synonym of 'debt'.

I'm think the "Book of Duty" for a simple name, or even something like "The Tally"

And I'll admit, I was secretly hoping you'd bring out the Latin for my perusal ;)

Ita vero, Juan Juarez centurio est fortus et sagus. Sed melior est tibi, verum Octavulgum dicere quam me.

;)

;)

...He's speaking in tongues! Heresy! (Angry mob waves pitchforks and chases off after Brother-Captain Alecto)

Sorry, I couldn't resist. ;)

The Tally sounds pretty acceptable as far as ambiguous names for your book go. Should be an interesting read, by all accounts. ;)

Still not a fan of purple personally, it doesn't jibe with the image the name throws up for you. Could just be me but as we all know, I'm always right. Therefore, do my bidding!

I like purple.... Plus I wanted that one splash of colour - That said, I think I shall keep the scheme as is and turn my powerful mind to the sidebar of The Tally.

What I've got so far:

The Tally is an ancient tome dating back to the founding years of the Chapter, as dear to the Iron Angels as their own banner.

Few, if any, outside the Chapter know of the importance of this relic; on those seldom occasions that it leaves the Chapter Fortress it does so guarded by a cadre of Librarians and carried within the holy armour of the Landraider Sacred Oath.

Under the stewardship of Epistolary Harrn, whose sole task is the care and guardianship of the Tally, the mighty tome is currently in its fifth volume; each prior volume kept in a void-shield protected vault, where no one but Epistolary Harrn and Chapter Master Virtok may lay eyes upon them.

Each of these tomes detail every debt of honour ever undertaken by the Iron Angels; from the return of fallen Battle-Brothers to fellow Chapters, to the support of entire Imperial Guard regiments. Every debt fullfilled by the Chapter is kept in meticulous detail and only considered done when Epistolary Harrn declares it so; he is a most exacting Iron Angel, having passed over the chance to become Chief Librarian in favour of being Keeper of the Tally.

Never in the long and storied history of the Chapter has the Tally been lost, such an occurence would stain the honour of the Chapter beyond measure and force them to retrieve it; even from the heart of a Hive Fleet.

Still not a fan of purple personally, it doesn't jibe with the image the name throws up for you. Could just be me but as we all know, I'm always right. Therefore, do my bidding! ;)

You have chosen wisely. :)

I'm liking the prototype sidebar up to now, although I don't think the bit about it having never-been-lost and associated lines are needed. It's obviously important to them and since it's kept in the Fortress Monastery, I'm sure any attempts to take The Tally would have been quite ill-fated.

The Corsairs could do it! They'd sneak in with their advanced sneakiness training and subvert the guards using wiley tricks and false comraderie and make off with the book and back to their sneakily parked thunderhawk and then laugh heartily at their success and-

*ahem*

Ok, perhaps that was an imaginative faux pah. ;)

I suppose that speaks to me being rather fond of the idea of The Tally. The name is, unexpected. Not bad, no not at all but to me it has the feel of being something quite unique, regardless of it's inspiration. That feeling of uniqueness is few and far between so it's fair kudos.

I thought it was justified, because it does leave the Monastery and - I'm probably going to expand - is present when any honour debt is undertaken.

One of my favourite things about the name is how understated it is - for all the name gives away it's the Quartermasters record of what's in the Armoury!

As for theft: The Iron Angels would assault a Hive Fleet, I'm pretty sure they'd give the Corsairs hell ;)
