Kjarl Grimblood
So I've been working on using my Space Wolves as an infantry force. So far I'm thinking 3 units of Long Fangs, a few Grey Hunters squads (2 with meltaguns, and maybe one with plasmaguns), a Bloodclaws pack, a Terminator unit, some Wolf Scouts, and a Lone Wolf. Now I'm trying to figure out what HQ to give this army list concept. I like both the fluff and rules behind Logan and Njal. So bearing in mind that this will be the only HQ choice I have, which one do you guys prefer? What makes one better than the other for rules, and this army in specific? Thanks in advance for all your comments and advice. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191952-njal-vs-logan/ Share on other sites
Skirax
Well, first I'd say drop a Long Fang pack, because you're really going to need mobility for those Blood Claws and really, the only option is a Land Raider of some kind. donates
what's the big thing in either of them? i mean why dont you just run a rune prist in a long fang pack and a wolf prist in the blood claws pack? that will add up to 200pts bare boned and will give you more then either logan njal? but if your reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy into the fluff that MUCH! i guess run logan and use a wolf guard termie squad with him Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191952-njal-vs-logan/#findComment-2278128 Share on other sites
Loher
Njal is imba for shooty wolves. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191952-njal-vs-logan/#findComment-2278328 Share on other sites
Archnomad
Njal is imba for shooty wolves. Not since he got FAQ'd like a mofo ;) Also, his powers require you to be up close, that's not shooty. :D But I play shooty mech, so hey ^.^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191952-njal-vs-logan/#findComment-2278894 Share on other sites
Wildfire
I'd go basic rune priest and use the extra 170ish points for another squad, myself. Call him Njal as a young rune priest if you must. But if it's a choice between one of those, Njal in termie armor is probably a better buy for this list. Logan's only really useful if you're taking a bunch of WG, imo. Chodjinn
Logan is a monster, but he would only benefit with termies/wolfgurad heavy list. Njal is also a beast. But they are both very expensive. The thing is, a SW army has some good, relatively cheap HQ choices, and although only a WL gets fancy loadout options, with your list I think you'd do better spenging the poisnt on a couple of cheap HQ to get the most out of it. I really think if you want to use a special character, at least some part of any list should be tailored to suit whatever beenfits the chosen character has, that way you get the most out of them. Wolfpriest Cjarl Nightmane
I'm actually going to answer your question... nice huh. There both great characters who have excellent army support for your wolves. Looking at your choices I PREFER Njal as he has the best shooting versatility (various psy powers to choose from to fit any situation) and seems to fit nicely with your list.
