Question on Nids, new shadow of warp and new lector

I was having a chat with my 'Nid playing mate yesterday and he was telling me about the new rules for shadows of the warp and for the deathleaper lector.

So, I just wanted to see what your thoughts were on these.

From his description he was saying :

Shadows of warp - anyone within 12" of a Nid having this power must roll 3d6 to do a psychic power and take ALL 3 dice (not just the worst 2).

Question - is this right? If so - and you fail, do you lose a wound? If not - and you only get "perils of the warp" on a double, is this ANY double taken from the 3 dice?

Deathleaper Lector - this baby can now choose any model in the game and give it a d3 leadership drop. No LoS? No range?

Any tips to help out the old runepriest with these powers?

Shadows of warp - Weak version of the Eldar power. You just roll 3d6 for all psychic tests, but Perils works the same as usual. Its not much of a problem, considering Eldar players can do this accross the board and where any failed psychic tests becomes a Perils...

Deathleaper Lector - No restriction.

Thanks guys. I am interested to know how this would affect your RP play. A "weak" version of the eldar power (which is so powerful it basically negates any sensible use of psychic powers) is still good. The odds of rolling 2 ones, or 2 sixes when rolling 3 dice is fairly high.

If you add the minus to your leadership to having to roll 3d6 for your psychic test - surely this means you will be failing 50% of your psychic tests !
