Niiai
Hi...I am just wondering what you think about this: 3 Long fangs, 2 multi meltas (or whatnot) and a rhino. Is it any good? :D First turn ride 12 ahead, and then next turn "WHAM!" Or you can get plasma cannon spitters for 120. Perhaps not as cool as a dakka predd? TiguriusX
Pros Gives armor to 2 man LF squad Superior to razor back because you can split fire Cons Absolutely zero mobility. If you move you can't fire. Antique_Nova had a few lists with this concept a few months ago. I'm not sure if he play tested it but it wouldn't hurt to ask him Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192035-poor-mans-land-speeder/#findComment-2279282 Share on other sites
SeanyPrawny
I've been running my fangs as 3 in a rhino with 2 las cannons, gets completely overlooked since i also run 6 tllc razorbacks and 2 preds with tllc and hb's. their most notable kills have been a chaos termy lord a pred and a defiler. I'm quite happy with em. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192035-poor-mans-land-speeder/#findComment-2279301 Share on other sites
Niiai
I think they might cost a bit to mutch. But I can get 1 melta, multi melta and a rhino for 85. If he moves the regular melta can shoot. would suck against MC's though. Wildfire
At that point I'd rather just drop a full squad of long fangs in the middle of the board. Spazmonkey
While i have toyed with the idea I honestly dont think its worth i, 85 points gets you a whirlwind, or pred with autocannon and heavy bolters. Spend another 35 points and you can get a Pred with side las and an auto cannon. Grey Mage
Remember- if that rhino is shaken/stunned they cant shoot out the top hatch. A rhino with two MMs inside it is a death trap. SeanyPrawny
The same shot that stunned your tank will probably kill a longfang so i'd rather miss a turn of shooting. Though this is just me and I like all my units in vehicles. Niiai
Yeah it proparly is not worth it... I think I will put a master rune priest and a melta or plasma Grey Hunter squad in a rhino instead. He could then cast living lightning or jaws, and storm caller. Even so, if one dies you can shoot back with your other LFs... and kill it in return as likely as not. Of course, this is all kind of nill anyways- because putting MMs on your LFs is rarely a good idea anyways with their short range. In moast games i play there has not been any decent cover in the deployment sone. In fact there is very little cover at all. (My friend is a bit cheap on the terain.) SeanyPrawny
Only decent terrain i have for that is used as center piece everything else is just hills and trees really. I'm swapping my LF's and preds for 3 vindi's anyway so I'll stop commenting lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192035-poor-mans-land-speeder/#findComment-2279919 Share on other sites

They dont have to be IN cover to get cover, though there should be more than one peice of terrain- make some, and bring it along. If your not using 25-30% your doing yourself and your opponent a great disservice. Archnomad
On the unit use, I run a unit of 3 long fangs with 2 missile launchers in a rhino in my 1000 point list for the up and coming tourney here (mostly cause I need a heavy support to get a 2nd elites slot, but oh well) and they actually do really really well! They screen my razors/dread from cover, and most people don't bother shooting a unit that puts out so little firepower. Their mistake really. Toying with the idea of giving sarge a flamer for a bit of utility. But I wouldn't touch multi meltas. My guys sit in my DZ all game nuking transports. Or firing frags into infantry. It works! :D EDIT: Just realised the 6 most recent posts in the forum are by me, and the front 6 threads all read "By Archnomad" after them.... I'll stop now I think...
