Circus Nurgling
Just wanted to show my blood-pooling technique I thought up. Also the flaked-obsidian blades (which I thought of before reading the horus heresy... it's not an anathame D: ...and also didn't come out quite the way I wanted them to) Let me know your thoughts. This is the test subject, and is still WIP (needs a little touch-up, highlighting, base-painting and eyes) so critique is appreciated. I have no idea which direction I want to go with, er, whatever that is coming out of his mouth, so input on that is appreciated as well. The skin needs a little something, maybe a light wash of rotting flesh? Not sure... http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac197/gfan360/009-1-1.jpg http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac197/gfan360/011-1-1.jpg http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac197/gfan360/010-1-1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192054-plaguebearer-test/ Share on other sites
ShotgunFacelift
More defined highlights would bring out the detail more. But you can try a couple layers of watered down ink with dish soap in it. Otherwise I like the color scheme, way different than the standard green and yellow Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192054-plaguebearer-test/#findComment-2279431 Share on other sites
Circus Nurgling
100+ views and 1 reply... :o It's because he's not in power armour, right? You're persecuting me? I've never heard of using dish soap. What exactly does that do? ShotgunFacelift
if you mix up any paint (including washes) with water and a small drop of dish soap you can create washes from any paint your inventory. The dish soap does something to break the water tension so that the paint dries evenly. Without it the paint will dry with a blotchy or bubbly look where the paint has seperated from the water while drying. In general I would just create a slightly darker mix of the main skin color to deepen the shadows and a slightly lighter mix to add some highlights. Are you going to pick out some more of the details on the pipe? Gresiloth
I really like the blood effect - do you plan to spread that throughout the body or just have it in certain areas? I think the slug thing coming out of his mouth might work nicely in brown, to tie in with the weapon handle - e.g. calthan brown/graveyard earth?
