2010 LPC - WIP I - Ultramarines; HQ, Elites, & Fast Attack

Recommended Posts

My vow: I, Lord Mongol, of the Ultramarines, vow on the honour of my Chapter to paint and present at least 1 x Command Squad, 2 x 10 Marine Assault Squads, and 2 x 5 Marine Terminator Squads on or before the 31st of March, 2010. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, preferably with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, I will provide the Librarium with an article and wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done.

Thus far I don't have any pics uploaded but they are on the way. Probably this evening.

LPC Status

Nearly Completed - 10 x Assault Marines

Basecoated - 10 x Assault Marines

Basecoated - 5 x Terminators

Basecoated - 5 x Terminators

Primed - 5 x Veterans

I have happily discovered the glory of highlights! I've been preparing a larger post on my blog with pics, the second Assault Squad will probably recieve a step by step, and I'm looking forward to gearing up for the terminators. I've also discovered the importance of blacklining, due to it's absence in my marines so far, you'll see what I mean when I put up some pics. Fortunately I've realized this before basecoating my Command Squad. Looking forward to sharing soon!

Instead of updating this post last night... I may have played a 40k game for the Planetary Empires campaign in which I'm currently engaged. I also may have been drinking the Canadian Potion of Heroism for the duration. Contrary to popular belief, Whisky, however beloved, does not increase one's tactical acumen. Long story short, the Ultramarines did not hold the defence of the Hive City, more so they offered up some delicious geneseeds to the Tyranids.

Pics and post will be up this evening!

This is my test model, he's been abused quite a bit thus far... I figure I've got a few more experiments before he is banished to the pit of brake fluid for reprocessing! The right side of his Imperial Eagle is tipped with Boltgun Metal washed over with Gryphonne Sepia. Not really sold on that yet. Might try Mithril Silver on the left side?

So these are the base models for the challenge!

Closer look at the Jump Packs! I'm really happy with how these are turning out... Like I said, blacklining! Totally sweet!

Anyone have any suggestions for blacklining already painted ceramite armour plates? I'm thinking I might go back and touch those up so they match the Jump Packs...

There you have it! First WIP update complete for the LPC! Comments and criticisms are extremely welcome! Now, I must continue to paint, lest I wear the dread Signature of Shame! Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I just posted up my paint breakdown on my blog, linkage is in my sig! Thanks again!

Finished off the first squad of :FA: Assault Marines :FA: tonight! Well, I guess it's morning now... :o

And the finished squad in all it's glory!!! Well, at least as much glory as they can have for the moment, I need to start moving on my other squads in the vow if I'm gonna get this done on time! All in all, I'm pretty happy with them! There's a few odds and sods details I need to fix up but for the most part they are painted to my current LPC standard. If I have the time, once I get all the squads up to this stage, I'll expand my standard for more awesomeness (or at least attempted awesomeness...)!!!

The lighting was a bit wierd for this last batch of pics... I'm no photographer! Now it is time for the sleeping! ^_^ I'm using emoticons so I must be tired... :jaw:

Fool! Your pitiful forces will be crushed under the Ravens of Retribution's boots. Cling to the words of Gulliman, they will be all that remains once they are through with you!

Thanks for the kind words blackbabyjesus! (Funny, I've always wanted to say that now that I have...)

ShinyRhino, my move to RMS paints is explained on my blog, but I love working with them! To me they seem way more versatile! That being said, the Foundations and Washes that Citadel has put out are some truly amazing tools to work with but there are some standards, like Boltgun Metal, that you just can't be without.

Big fan of your work, btw!
