lostraven
In a fit of madness I accepted the LPC. I committed myself to finish the Captain and command squad for the 2nd company of my DIY chapter, the Raven Sons. The chapter is a successor to the Raven Guard. Most of the models in the squad have been converted in some way. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/RS_Command.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/cap1.jpg The captain is the old Blood Angels captain on which the later Tycho model was based. I removed the BA specific imagery and added bits from the plasitc command sprue. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/champ1.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/champ2.jpg The company champion is an old Space Marine Lieutenant model that I lopped of the left hand and added a combat shield. I also made the chapter symbol and purity seal in greenstuff and added it to the right shoulder. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/apoth1.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/apoth2.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/apoth3.jpg The apothecary started out as a BA marine which I again removed some of the BA specific icons. I left some of the blood drop shaped gems because I figured it fit with the apothecary image. The medi-pack is a cut-down standard pack embelished with platic card, rod, bits from various sprues and some greenstuff. The gauntlet was a power fist from which I cut off the fist part and glued on a regular fist. This was also embelished with various bits and platic rod and strip. You can see parts from an Eldar chainsword and flamer and a cut down scanner from the old old plastic marines set. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/vet1.jpg This figure was originally a Grey Hunter, now with the Wolf iconography removed and plastic bits added. The other 2 figures a out-of-the-box except for the addition of the metal Imperial/Crimson Fist shoulder pad. The symbol for the Raven Sons is a white fist sinister on a red field. Sgt. Blank
Those look great, especially the Tycho conversion and the Company Champion. I really like to see older models get refurbished and am looking forward to seeing these painted. lostraven
I started painting the command squad yesterday. I started with a basecoat of Scab Red, followed by a wash of Dark Flesh. Next was a coat of Blood Red followed by a second coat of Blood Red concentrating on the edges and raised areas. Highlighting was done with a mix of Blood Red and Vomit Brown. Lastly a wash of red ink tied everything together. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/RS_Command2.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/cap2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192281-lpc-raven-sons/#findComment-2284093 Share on other sites
lostraven
Here's some updated progress. I punched up the highlights and shadows on the armor, added gold trim and accents and whites. At this point I'm going to concentrate on the finishing details for each figure individually as opposed to the "assembly line" approach I've been using. I still have to come up with a company banner. The apothecary is still in his base colours. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/RS_Command3.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/cap3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192281-lpc-raven-sons/#findComment-2295860 Share on other sites
lostraven
I worked on the captain's back banner and I'm pretty pleased with the results. I haven't come up with a name for him yet. When I do I will add it to the banner. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/cap4.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/banner1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192281-lpc-raven-sons/#findComment-2296878 Share on other sites
lostraven
I'm closing in on completing my LPC commitment. The command squad is mostly finished except for texturing the bases and making the company banner. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/RS_Command4.jpg Company Champion http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/champ3.jpg Veterans http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/vet2.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/plasma1.jpg Company Standard http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/stand1.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/stand2.jpg Apothecary http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/apoth6.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/apoth5.jpg Captain http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c212/gbyrnsie/WHFB-40K/cap5.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192281-lpc-raven-sons/#findComment-2329845 Share on other sites
Captain Mike
Your painting is accurate, but very bumpy. Consider watering down your paints. The red also appears a little flat, maybe some highlights? But overall, I like.
