the trickster?

Personally don't use him, as I can't spare the points and he doesn't fit my army anyway, but I have a friend who runs Mentor Legion (using space wolf rules. don't ask, I hate him too). He claims to get extremely good results from Lukas+Vindicaire (nowhere does it say the vindicaire can't shoot our own units). Making him essentially a remote detonator. Very useful, or so he says.

you can't target your own units so the guy shooting him with a vindicare is so wrong its untrue. the only time your own shooting can hurt your own units is if it is a blast weapon that scatters onto them.

as far as the character goes, doesn't float my boat so doubt i will use him.

a vindicare assassin ignores pretty much all rules for shooting except LOS. i forget exactly what their respected codices say, but it is one of those very controversial topics out there.

The vindicator specifies "the vindicator can target any model in line of sight regardles of target restrictions"

although he hits on a 2+ he would still have to get through luca's doupleganger pelt. But it sounds like a bad way to use lukas.

Also, although it detsroys titans, there is a special rule regarding titan (under constructuons points) that it only count as taking one construction point. (This is not specified in the FAQ because the FAQ cover's lucas, not the rule for construction points and destruction.)

I'm not certain I see the difference? Is there a rule pertaining to construction points contributing towards winning (I don't play much apoc)? What I do know is that specific beats general, and the GW Space Wolves FAQ specifically says:

Q. Does Lukas the Trickster’s The Last Laugh

ability affect friendly models? How about

vehicles? Or Warlord-class Titans, for that

matter?

A. Yes in all three cases – it affects any unit in

base contact. Stasis fields are very all-or-nothing

affairs!

The vindicare may be able to target any moel in range, but it still can't target your own units as NOTHING can target friendly models. Its like saying he can shoot into ombat, he can't. all the vindicare can do is target any enemy model he wishes that is in range and los.

Yes, he can. By his rules, he can shoot any MODEL within line of sight. Not any enemy. His targetting rule echoes the rules for blasts and skills that hit friend and foe. I've actually used him in the past to kill that last persistent model that is stuck in CC with an enemy unit so that I could then shoot at that unit. Doesn't make me a very popular commander among my troops, but hey.
