So, a massive gun in high orbit lobs a shell from space to impact the ground planetside, resulting in a massive explosion that vap...- but whats this?! The target turns out to be a Tau hovertank with the disruption pods upgrade! It's now counted as an obscured target, and so gets 4+ a cover save! The orbital bombardment patters harmlessly off the hull of the hated xenos. ;)

 

So yeah, basically, does a Disruption Pod on a Tau vehicle ('...weapons firing at the vehicle from more than 12" distant count the vehicle as an Obscured Target...") grant a cover save from any barrage or blast weapon, specifically Orbital Bombardment?

 

Just seems kinda stupid.

Not barrage weapons, as the point of origin is the center hole and as long as that's within 12" it doesn't get the save. Direct-fire blast weapons are saveable though.
