Laeradex
After my other titan spectacularly failed (theres a thread on here for it somewhere, I think) I decided to give a shot at a Warhound, rather than a Reaver (as the other one was). Instead of being lazy, and just using stuff that I found around my house, this one had a bit more thought put in. I used the DBTLD from the other titan; and the volcano cannon barrel and back bit from the shadowsword kit, a random bit (from the skybase playset) and a few heavy flamers completes the Inferno cannon. Most of the assembly is either from the drop pod kit, or the rhino kit, with a few bits of sheet plastic from the fanstasy modular movement trays. Enough rambling. Bring on the pictures! http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100206_102748.jpg This was in the middle of building, when I had the body and legs finished. They aren't glued together here, just resting. http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100214_174727.jpg Most of the building work done. http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100214_174800.jpg From the top http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100214_174841.jpg The inferno cannon http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100214_174906.jpg and the DBLTD http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100214_174950.jpg The knee joint. The whole thing stands 12" to the tallest spike, and about 11! to the shoulder. All it needs is a few more details, GSing, and a lick of paint. Alex.ö
I like it. My own five cents would be to make the knee joint and the knees in general heavier. As it is now it kinda looks like they are a bit to thin to bear the entire titan. Laeradex
tiny update, before I go and spray it. @Alex.ö - I tried- and failed- to make the knees more bulky. It just wouldnt work <_< so this'll have to do. more pics- http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100221_155500.jpg Icon on top. I thought it needed a bit more of a focal point http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100221_155518.jpg A bit of detailing on top of the head. It was a big open space, so i stuck a bit off the CSM frame on it. I'll spray it, and post more. Koz
It's incredibly creative to see the Drop Pod bits and say "Hey I can build a Titan out of that!" I never would have thought to use those bits for a project like this. Can't wait to see more. Laeradex
Another update (woohoo!) Thanks to my rudimentary (read: nonexsistent) photography 'skills', the purple has come out blue-ish :P however, it is Liche Purple, just so you know. I know I said I'd take photos when I'd sprayed it, but the temptation to slap some paint on it was too great. Again, my (lack of) photography skills have made this come out dodgey. My method was- purple in the areas I wanted purple, do all the metallics, and then drybrush the entire thing with mithril silver. Have a look- http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100_0490.jpg Scale shot, with Ironclad http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100_0491.jpg Top shot http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100_0494.jpg Down the barrell of the DBTLD http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100_0497.jpg Inferno Cannon side http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100_0506.jpg DBTLD side http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/100_0498.jpg Front shot the banner between the legs has the wing grasping a sword fom the Baneblade transfer sheet, the left (titan's veiwpoint) kneecap has a slaanesh icon, and the left (titan's veiwpoint) lower leg has kill markings on. Mortifis
I didn't think much of it in your original photos, because I thought the proportions were a bit out of whack. The legs were too long and too wide, while being too thin. The main body looked like you'd got past the hips and then run out of steam. What a difference a coat of paint and some detail can make! Now I'm rather impressed about how well it has come out, with nothing more than paint, decals and bitz stuck on. It doesn't seem so weird as it did at first. So good job, I like it! P.S. I'm looking forward to the new Mechwarrior game (when they finally get around to releasing it!). Laeradex
(dramatic music) well, I think this is the last update. The banner decal failed, because I put it on while the paint was still wet  so it came out kinda purple. Thus, I decided to paint over it, and add in freehand. Here's the result, and my final pic update (unless you want to shout at me for something I've forgotten to add... :P ) http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac39/Laeradex/TitanBanner.jpg The banner. The edges of the decal are visible, because I don't trust myself to get close to the detail. You can't see it in person, and you can only see it here because my camera is flash-happy (/dramatic music) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192546-scratch-built-titan/#findComment-2296894 Share on other sites
