SO...I'm playing against the xenos threat in all thier bikery awfulness

I know i'll be playing against a list which will be heading off to the GT....and I've promissed to play with something which is going to be comeptative against all comers. It'll be 2000 points and i need to make sure i can compete against both the green biker terror and also eldar prismspam, chaos obilash and guard vendeta/plasma. I'm currently thinking multiple rhinos, jotww, lots of plasma, multiple long fang missile packs....dunno

any thoughts

I think 3 solid squads of grey hunters in rhinos should be the basis of the army (of course) with maybe a flamer and melta.

I would also suggest taking Njal stormcaller as he can use whatever power to suit the situation, but then, im one of the few who prefer him to 2 priests. Casting tempests wrath and JOTWW'ing anything close.

So three squads to do....?...and then njal with two powers a turn to cast jaws once and...?

Why would three squads with those weapons loadouts be better than others vs these power lists as opposed to more or less or other weapon load outs? What does Njal offer as any extra versitility over any of these lists...? None of them overly use psychics and thus a 3+ dismiss isn't needed. Please explain why vs the various tourney lists listed why these things would be useful...?

In a recent tournement i placed 3rd out of 25 people thanks to Njal dismissing Tyranid, Eldar and Chaos Powers on 3+'s. Besides, you just asked for options or opinions and didnt ask for anything in particular so i threw in an opinion.

Mobility will be good against bikerz instead of a footslogger list hence the rhinos.

Njal is always good vs eldar. Farseers with fortune and doom is worth shutting down and tempests wrath makes all their transports take dangerous terrain tests. And the avatar counts as a daemon, so the runic weapon is always good to have around.

Then you have the ability to switch up and use Murderous hurricane to maybe slow down a green horde along with the ability to have storm caller which can help keep your transports alive and help bolster troops against plasma is nice.

Denying lash can be huge vs chaos as well.

Njal is like a swiss army knife. He always has the right tool for the job. Of course you have to pay for that tool.

Something else i have personally been enjoying in all comers list are assault cannons. They can pretty much be used for everything.

Unless you really want to use Lord of the Tempests I still think 2 RP provide more for the points

RP#1 + MOTR LL/Jaws + Tempest

RP#2 LL/Jaws + MH/LL/Jaws

5 more points lets you throw out 1 extra psychic shooting attack and spread your psychic defense coverage

If you come up against an army that doesn't require tempest's wrath you can still make use of MOTR in CC for force kills

Cheers all;

Think the game was pegged at 2000 points because it gave that extra wiggle room but yeah - normally it'd be 1750. As to characters and the like...vs nob bikerz difficult and dangerous terrain isn't too much of a hinderance, however 4+ and each nob in a line is dead seems much more effective - doubly so if there are two rune priests. Vindis are great appaart from the 3+ invulnerable/4+ cover save that bikers get which is why I'm thinking missiles. Vindi's on the move might be ok but tthen they're not shoioting and they still only need a 2+ to glance. Was thinking raiders moving fast and shooting the lascannon with the machine spirit might be better (6+ to hit, 5+ to glance) but that's a lot of points shooting 1 gun and not doing much else except moving to contest each turn.

More list specific stuff is cool...especially against nob bikerz - how does one slow them/take them down when there's 3 big units? Do you also concentrate on the biker warbosses if possible?

Missiles... missiles and more missiles - Krak missiles are about as good a tool as any - the S8 will dismiss several of Nob bikers advantages (FNP from the obligatory painboy, instant death etc)- ok, they'll still get a decent save in most cases, but for 420 points, 3 lots of ML Long Fangs will at the very least thin them out to the point where you will destroy them in combat pretty easily.

Weight of fire is what sorts them out, and wolf claws/frosts blades striking at I4/5 are pretty handy too.

MLs should be your friend, right? No armour save and FnP against kraks. Even if he has got 3 large units 1 turn shooting from 15 MLs hurt. I'd say concentrate on the closest threat and then use GHs in rhinos w/ Melta & WG w/ PF, CM to mop up the rest. With 2-3 squads of MLs and 3 Squads of GHs in rhinos with that setup you're in for a little over 1000p, and then you got room for a dread or two, some Landraider BCs or whatever. I don't think ork bikes should be a problem. Just intercept and concentrate fire.
