Black Templars on a budget

So... I have been using the same plans for a drop pod I'm making and I'm finding that the doors do not match up well with the fins/top. Did you have an issue with that?

@Inside Reticle. I definitely had the trouble you are speaking of. Mainly in the height of the doors, not so much their length. I am building second pod and I hope to 1) make the doors out of cardstock instead of plasticard as I had lots of trouble getting that to glue quickly to hold and 2) shorten the length of the the doors from top to bottom. Let me know if you made any modifications that helped it out. Thanks.

*Financial Update*

 

So, being as this is a budget templar blog. I figured I would give a run-down of how much I have spent, on what, and how it compares to GW's prices as the point of this blog and buying this army is to NOT pay GW prices.

Thus far, I have assembled all but the vindicator and the 10 AoBR marines. I have made the terminators customizable so that they can serve as either regular terminators or assault terminators. I am currently ordering pieces to upgrade my landraider to another landraider crusader and hoping to convert a twinlinked lascannon arm and missile launcher arm for my dread with various landspeeder and landraider pieces.

 

I can currently run:

3 7/3 crusader squads with fists and meltas,

1 10 man bolter squad with missile launcher

2 rhinos, 1 drop pod,

1 dreadnought in drop pod or on foot,

1 LRC with assault terminators or 6 terminators on foot with 2 assault cannons

1 LR

1 Pred.

1 Vindicator

2 speeders

1 champ

1 marshall with power weapon/pistol or twin lightning claw setups

1 terminator chaplain

 

The bear now is painting this stuff. I tend to be somewhat slow at it, so I hope to an 1,850-2,000pt. list ready for an October tournament. I also hope to play in the 'ardboyz tourney coming up as I can max out this army to get me around 2,500pt.

 

Word of advice.... there is always a cheaper way than GW to get your stuff. Investigate.
