bystrom Posted March 27, 2010 Share Posted March 27, 2010 The Avatar ignores melta weaponry, so shooting 4 multi-meltas is a bad idea. 4 lascannons are not only expensive (you can almost get a full sternguard squad for the minimum price), but won't cause much damage, and missile launchers being cheaper, will work exactly the same as lascannons. A Chapter Master's orbital bombardment can only be used once. So yay, you might get off one wound... Lastly, lance torpedo strikes are a 0-1 choice. (and will always scatter, need to target a terrain piece, so isn't very good at hitting a single, moving model) At 1000 pts, be happy the opponent doesn't have a farseer, try to shoot the other stuff and outmaneouver the Avatar. You've 'killed' his toughness and his killyness, but will have to contend with fearless units. Otherwise, sternguard seem like a good idea, getting off some hellfire shots should put the hurt on the Avatar.
