Aerixis
Hey guys! Hopefully you have been with me through the cconversion corner, where I showed how this beast was constructed from everything from 11 year old autogun pistol parts to an entire Ravenwing Landspeeder sprue. I'm gonna show the process of how I painted it here, but bear in mind it was about 10am after about 11 hours of constructing, so if there are photos missing you'll have to gimme the benefit of the doubt! Lets get it on! First, start with a black undercoat. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/12.jpg Then drybrush with Dwarve Bronze and Scorched Brown 60/40. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/2.jpg Then drybrush with a mix of Boltgun Metal and Chainmail. This mix can vary as you wish depending on how bright you want it, but remember that it will be darkened by a wash later. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/3.jpg Next, I layered up Mechrite Red and Dark Flesh 70-30. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/4.jpg I then gave the plasma coils an Enchanted Blue and Hawk Turquoise coat, and cables a coat of either Iyanden Darksun or Orkhide Shade and Snot Green. I then gave the whole model a 60/40 Badab Black and Dark Flesh wash. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/5.jpg After which I had painted the face with Dark Flesh, then Tallarn Flesh on the raised areas, then Watered down Dark Flesh wash. Then it's a case of layering up the red with Mechrite Red and Blood Red 50/50, the plasma coils with Enchanted BLue and Ice Blue 50/50, the yellow with Golden Yellow and Sunburst Yellow, and the skin with Tallarn Flesh, Bleached Bone and Elf Flesh 40/30/30. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/6.jpg Here you can see the face after the last layer... http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/71.jpg And the back of the model... http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/72.jpg Then the red was built up with layers of Blood Red, then Blood Red and Blazing Orange 50/50. The yellow was highlighted with Sunburst Yellow and Bleached Bone, the blue was highlighted with Ice Blue, and the flesh was built up with Elf Flesh on the highest points. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/7.jpg The metal areas were weathered with Devlan Mud and Scorched Brown, then chipped with Chainmail and highlighted the chips with Mythril Silver. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/10.jpg His auspex had the buttons painted with blues, yellows and greens, http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/auspex1.jpg Then highlighted with lighter colours, and dotted with skull white. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/auspex2.jpg The indicator on the backpack was blended from Regal Blue up to Ice Blue then to White. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/bluelight.jpg The flamer was washed with Gryphonne Sepia, then Dark Flesh, then Scorched Brown, then Chaos Black. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/flamer.jpg As my marines are the Angels of Redemption, their chapter colours are green and bone. I decided to display this a little differently with each colour interlocked like cogs, as per a sugestion by a very good friend. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/kneepad.jpg The plasma-cutter recieved a final highlight ov Skull White... http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/plasma.jpg And the seals were basecoated Dheneb Stone, and Orkhide Shade. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/seal1.jpg Then washed with Devlan Mud and Badab Black, highlighted up to Bleached Bone then Skull White, and was written on with Scorched Brown and Chaos Black. The wax was highlkighted with SNot Green and finally Snot Green and Goblin Green 50/50. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h167/aerixis/bctech/painted/seal2.jpg Thats about it! Hope you guys enjoyed reading and watching this as much as me, if you have any questions or comments I'd be more than happy to help! Any ideas for another conversion corner would be greatly appreciated, id love to hear your ideas!
