Skirax
I like it, considering it's your first army. WHat sort of brushes do you have? Becuase a fine point might be good for painting things like that chaos symbol on the shoulder pad. I like the red, though I think it could be a bit glossier. Brother Nihm
It's always nice to see Red Corsairs. ;) With regards to C&C I think that your paint went on a bit (not too much mind you) too thick, thereby obscuring some of the detail as well as drying uneven in places - mostly the red. I suggest that you try watering down and/or wiping excess paint off your brushes before applying paint to your miniatures. I find that painting gold is tricky in general and is highly dependant on the brand. I went from gobs of GW's Shining Gold to smaller gobs of Vallejo Game Colour Gold and back to a smooth surface with GW's Shining Gold again, only thinned and with a brown undercoat. Here is an example of gold that ended up being too thick. And here is one where it went a lot better. My newest method of painting gold is : basecoat Bestial Brown basecoat slightly thinned Shining Gold highlight with a Boltgun Metal - Shining Gold mix. (1-1 ratio) Apply Devlan Mud wash highlight again with a Boltgun Metal - Shining Gold mix (1-1 ratio) done. Other than that they look great. I'm looking forward to see more Corsairs!
