XKhalilX
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=192549 that is the beginning of my DIY chapter (still not sure on chapter name) and I wanted to use space wolves grey (don't worry I won't be using SW geneseed LOL). The foundation paint set has nice colors, but fenris grey seems very dark. So if people could jot down some easy recipes id be most thankful. I enjoy to drybrush highlight as I like the texture and look of it over line highlighting. So im looking to use sw grey as the main with a drybrush highlight color. I will be giving sergeants white line down middle of helmet. if not SW grey then any other suggestions within GW paints would be helpful. im just painting up a squad or two just for fun, so im trying to stay within foundation and GW paints since that is what I own Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192643-wanting-to-know-a-good-paint-recipe/ Share on other sites
eschonle
you might think of basing with astronomican grey and having the primary armor color be SW grey, then highlight with fortress grey. good luck! XKhalilX
eschonle, so just base the entire mini in astro grey, then layer space wolves grey over it, and a final drybrush of fortress grey? isnt astro kind of the foundation equivalent of fortress grey? lookin at my handy shade chart that came with foundation paint set wouldn't using ice blue instead of fortress grey be a better highlight or no? ive never layered before (ive actually only been a painter a total of maybe 12 hours worth of painting!). how do you do a good layering based off the recipe you gave me? like tip wise. eschonle
Hmm. I see what you mean. Try using Ice Blue and see how it turns out . What I personally do is spray a base of black, then a watered-down layer of Foundation Fenris Grey, then for the armor plates I do a 50/50 Shadow Grey/Space Wolves Grey. For highlights I do paint all the edges pure SW Grey and then in the recesses and joints I do a mix of very watered down Scorched Brown and Fenris Grey to add some Shadows. Looks something like this: http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/mreric410/feb%2010%202010/013.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192643-wanting-to-know-a-good-paint-recipe/#findComment-2288640 Share on other sites
XKhalilX
hey eschonle thanks for the pic and recipe. i think ill do fenris grey like u did bu do SW grey as armor plates and highlight with ice blue. im going for a more blue rather then grey look, and i feel SW grey has that subtle hue to it that is perfect grey blue color, i hope ice blue isn't too bright, if it it i may just 50-50 ice and SW grey mix. thanks again!
