Kill Team

- 200 pts max.

- Special FOC: 0-1 Elite, 0-2 Troops, 0-1 Fast Attack.

- All models act independently.

- You may select three models in your army to designate as specialists, to give any USR from the book. None may be given the same rule.

So, assuming the rules above (and keeping in mind there are probably others in the Battle Missions book that aren't yet described), and that you are playing in a friendly non competative environment, post your ideal fluffy inquisitorial Kill-Teams.

Mine would be:

Elite Inquisitor w/annointed weapon, bolt pistol, targeter, plus hierophant and warrior with shotgun.

5 IST w/2 plasmaguns

5 IST w/2 plasmaguns

This represents a low level inquisitor with his savant and bodyguard, plus a requisitioned Stormtrooper detachment. Would be great fun, especially on the space hulk board.

Alternatively you could take an IG army, take a Valkyrie and add in an allied Inquisitor and/or IST. Would also be cool. The thing that excites me about this supplement is the potential to run games similar to what Inquisitors usually take part in in the fluff.

Any other ideas?

Thats cool, though id drop the IotJ and give the inquisitor the feel no pain USR. maybe chuck in a plasmacannon servitor with relentless as well?

I forgot about the USRs.

PC servitor is 45 points, that is a lot of points....

As for the IotJ, what can I say I can't resist overspending on my INQ

For that ragtag special ops feel, one could easily make a very divers =][= with retinue, making each model unique.

EDIT:

I did up a quick list:

Inquisitor with power armour and psycannon

Acolyte with stormbolter

2 gun servitors with heavy bolter

5 stormtroopers with 2 plasmaguns

total 198 pts

Doesn't really stand up in CC but puts out alot of dakka.

Hordes are even a greater threat in kill team than in normal games though, learned this the hard way back in 3e

I dunno... one Dominion squad with 4 flamers would make a serious dent in that orc mob, especially since those rules didn't say anything about transports ;) A threat? Yes... impossible to kill? Doubtful. You just have to be a bit canny with how you run things...

It'd definately be hairy though!

Hmm. The possibilities are scary.

21 Kroot, Crisis Suit team lead w/missile pod and twinlinked flamer and hardwired multitracker.

A whole mess of IG.

The ork horde mentioned above.

etc.

vs.

Justicar Skippy and five lucky PAGK, with two incinerators or one psycannon.

Ouch.

While I really like the way they did kill team, especially with how 3 models can get a different USR, a few things bother me.

First, is there no option to form up into a squad? I understand why they would want units to have the ability to walk around as individuals, but at the same time you can now snipe special models! For example, if you run the above justicar squad, and all the models must be individuals without the option to form up, the enemy can choose to kill the justicar first! Doesnt seem very cool, unless there is more to the way kill team works?

Second, can you take fractions of squads? Some units are so expensive they will preclude any other options. For example, necrons. A minimum necron warrior squad will take practically all of the 200 points more or less. A marine termie squad is exactly 200 points as well. Can you take these units in smaller fractions to add more variety to your force?

Third, what are victory conditions? Is there any need for troops to hold objectives, or are the victory conditions more like 'be the last one standing?'

As an aside, if you cant form up into squads to protect critical kill team models, what exists to prevent a dreadnaught from sniping the opposing heavy weapon/powerfist model with a las cannon or some such and then just owning the whole board?

Thanks!

PS: I think an inquisitor + small detachment of IST/imp guard and retinue is perhaps the coolest kill team ever! Really gives you a ton of great options, and is very fluffy!

My take for an inq. kill team would be the team from Aliens! Inq. ripley with a combiflamer and auspex (motion tracker), IG vet squad with heavy bolter team (smartguners vasquez and drake), 1-3 flamers, 1 shotgun (hicks), apone as the sarge. A chimera (hbolter+multilaser) for the apc with gorman inside. Newt can be a familiar to Inq. Ripley, Bishop can be an acolyte with bionics perhaps? I forget if acolytes can get bionics.

To be paired against, of course, a genestealer squad (aliens) lead by a broodlord (alien queen!)
