Hurrican Bolters

You can actually stick a Multi-Melta on a LRC and it can fire all of its weapons at Combat Speed, since it can fire 1 "normal" weapon (the AC), all "defensive" weapons (Hurricane Bolters), plus 1 more thanks to the Machine Spirit (Multi-Melta). The MM could fire at a separate target, but all the others would need to go to the same target, so you could conceivably rake an inf squad with the AC and HB, while popping a nearby vehicle or other "hard target" with the MM. Then 15 Blood Claws and a Wolf Priest come charging out. Almost makes me thing that a LRC might be worth it.... almost.

You got it right... and it is worth it.

Absolutely beautiful it is.

I dunno. I played against a Black Templar player with his Crusaders. I had him completely ranged from 48-24" with my Predator and Long Fangs. I immoblized one of them and knocked out the MM and AC on the other while getting a constant stream of "Crew Shaken" hits. Net result: 520 points of Land Raiders that did not fire one shot the entire game. (Correction: the immoblized one did fire 1 volley of HB late in the game at my TWC that did nothing) It seemed like an awful waste to me.

LCs glance 4/6 x 2/6 = 8/36 or 22% per shot.

MLs glance 4/6 x 1/6 = 4/36 or 11% per shot.

Three LC shots or 5 ML shots, with those percentages is hardly great odds.

How much did you spend on the Pred and Fangs? 300 pts?

All he needed to do was get one glance on the Pred and that is half your firepower gone.

If he hasn't taken Smoke and Extra armour for 8 pts, he is stooging himself. EA means he is still gonna dump whatever unit in your lap, charging and with frags.

Without more details, it is hard for me to say much more, but I'd suggest he is light on experience and/or you rolled well. <_<

I deliberately don't take LRs in any of my games, because they are such a dog to deal with unless you have telegraphed them that your are bringing them.

*And there are always those games when unit whatever has an absolute howler, you've done everything you can and have even prayed before you roll the dice, and it still stinks. :tu:

I would not write off using the LRC so easily :)

He did have Extra Armor, and the Blessed Hull option (which saved him from the DE Dark Lance shots). I admit that I did roll extremely well on the Missile shots. We'll see if I play him again, but my list now has 4 more Lascannons than it did then, so we'll see if the LRC can make it across the map. The other LRC that I kept Stunning did make it across the map and disgorge a giant squad of Initiates led by the Emperor's Champion which promptly wiped out my Rune Priest and Arjac (who were left alone after a dual with Sword Brethren Terminators), but they in turn were promptly gunned down by my Grey Hunters. I suppose more data is needed before I can make a conclusion, but for right now I don't like LRC.
