Garro: Oath of Moment & Garro: Legion of One

Raven's flight is great! The story is excellent, and central to the plot of the Heresy, and the voice acting and script are well paced - not overblown at all, which was one of my fears before hearing it.

Sadly I don't think any of the forthcoming audio books will have transcripts. The Lightning Tower/Dark King did as they were intended to go into a short story anthology before the decision was made to put them into an audio book, whereas all the Audio books being released now have been intended for that format.

are any of the audiobooks worth it ?

I'm not to sure I want to buy them.. altough I doubt I will be able to resist the urge to have the complete 'horus heresy' collection

The Dark King and The Lightning Tower are great!

is that the same as the written version ??

I hope sincerly that they will release written versions too instead of only audiobooks..

Reading is just more my thing..

There was something on the BL forums (before they shut it down for how long!?!), about there being a good chance that all the stories on the audiobooks being released in printed form in their own anthologies - as they are all "short" stories. The authors tend to write them as shorts and then adapt them for recording, so presumably the written versions are a little different - but do exist.

This will be a good thing IMHO - I have a couple of the audio versions and they're great to have on while driving or modelling, but I really prefer the written word - If it happens I expect they'll be a HH specific anthology like Tales of Heresy 2 and other anthologies for other 40K. Trouble is you need about 8-10 stories for an anthology we're a way away from that number in audiobooks yet, so it might be a long wait, if it comes off at all.

Anybody else hate audiobooks?

I also hate audiobooks, just can't stand to listen to them. If I want to experience a story I'd much read it (or play it in the case of games), but audiobooks just aren't for me. I want to put my own voices onto the characters, not have to listen to some actor's instead of my own interpretation.

I heard from one of the blueshirts at my LGS that the first two audiobooks may be being released on a PDF on the Black Library website. I can only hope this is true and that it will apply to the rest of the audiobooks, because if not I'm afraid I'll have to miss a few chapters of this excellent series :(

Yeah, I wouldn't mind audiobooks at all if:

- they had the transcript added;

- they weren't that troublesome to import: they are rarer to find, and it's difficult to see they categorized correct in the sites that don't have a proper audiobook section. Some consider them as "books", others as "CDs" :/

I've copied/pasted myself, as I keep writing the same thing!

This is VERY exciting. The dark King /The Lightining Tower and Ravens Flight were Great. They both shed light on topics that are central to the HH. They might have been short but they were jam packed with great fluff. Considering how much time and effort that has been spent on figuring out what might happen to Garro i think this next audio book will stack up well against he others. Even if you don't like the audio thang, missing out on Corax's "Stealth Mode" or Night Haunter going berserk is just a shame.
