Long fangs or more termis?

Im stuck between buying more termis, i have ten so far, or to buy a box of devestators.

I already have 5 long fangs, but only one of them has a heavy weapon and i havent gotten around to bitz ordering more, if i were to buy a box of devestators i would then have enough parts to make 10 long fangs. So should i go for 10 long fangs, or 5 more terminators, im heading towards the long fangs considering i dont have any heavy support at the moment.

I would say most definitely go with long fangs. You have a good jump on terminators, but personally I think a good starting point for long fangs is at least two packs. A single pack is still effective with split fire, but having enough to field two packs will keep your opponent on their toes when it comes to target priority, and two packs of five long fangs ( four heavy weapons and one pack leader) will run a total of 230 points if you kit them all with missile launchers, which is a personal favorite of mine against nearly any opponent. You can always get two more models with heavy weapons later on and have two complete packs. They pack quite a punch.

As someone who bought Black Reach, a box of regular Termies, and when the codex came out a box of SW Termies, and then another box of SW Termies because I forgot about the first one, I can honestly say that unless you have Logan and want to try a Terminator army, your likely going to find 10 models more then enough for now.

I would recommend getting the devastator box. If only for the large number of weapons it gives you. And also the kneeling legs...

(BTW, dont forget that all Long Fangs except pack leader need to have a heavy weapon - we arnt like SM who have Dev squads with 4 weapons and 6 "wounds")

Long fangs definately, I've gone for a terminator army with the wolves, and anything with a couple of lascannons or plasma weapons can pretty much take you out 3rd turn if you're not in cover and get a bit unlucky with saves. I'd personally take at least 1 lascannon in each pack, it's only 1 strength higher, but that can literally be the difference between glancing and penetrating hits on a land raider or other armour 14 nasties.
With those numbers, I say go Long Fangs. I personally like the Missile Launcher/Lascannon mix, but have two of each of the others as well for variety. In the future, pick up the Terminator box and some AoBR Terminators. You'll get the 5 in the box and can put those extra weapons on the AoBR Terminators to increase your options.

i definitly would go for long fangs :D

nice bits and cheapest long range fire you can get in your list

i've

11 ML

8 PC, LC and HB

and i have really much fun with my long fangs.....it's really funny to see the look on the face of space marine players when they see a long fang pack tooled up with 5 plasma cannons

My own Long Fangs have two Missile Launchers and two Lascannons, split fire means you can use frags on light infantry while still tank hunting and against the new Nids this combo works great for taking out synapse and big gribblies. I have threatened to build a second squad as the first ones were so awesome.
I was thinking of having in total two Missile launchers, two lascannons, two heavy bolters and two plasma cannons.

In what way should i group these together?

Definitely get the Long Fangs, they are incredible Heavy Support units, and you've already got plenty of Terminators.

Some folks like to go with all Missile Launchers, but I don't. They are flexible weapons, and are decent in application against light vehicles and against troops/infantry, but they aren't great against either.

I prefer to take Heavy Bolters, which are cheaper than Missile Launchers, to use against infantry, and to use as the relatively cheap "meat shields" or "cannon fodder" of the Long Fang pack, since we can't have regular Marines to absorb wounds, like normal Marines can in their Devastator Squads.

Against Heavy Infantry, like Terminators, you're going to want an AP2 Weapon. Missile Launchers have a high-strength (using Krak Missiles), but at only AP3 they offer no particular advantage against models with 2+ Armor Saves. Plasma Cannons are much better for use against Heavy Infantry, and a single well placed shot can often get you several kills.

Against Vehicles, the extra point of Strength from a Lascannon makes a huge difference (it's also AP2 and can be effectively used against Heavy Infantry as well), and is superior to a Krak Missile, too.

My preferred Long Fang pack configuration is: 1x Lascannon, 2x Plasma Cannon, and 2x Heavy Bolters. Using Split Fire, the Lascannon is applied against a Vehicle/Monstrous Creature and the Heavy Bolters are applied against an Infantry target. The Plasma Cannon can go either way, so I'll put one or both toward whichever target requires additional firepower.

I want the plastic Wolfhead backpacks.

Anyone know where I can get a few?

They sell the old SW sprue at GW now. That is your best bet if no one here has any spare.

And just to make sure, it's this one right?

Why is it that half the pics GW take of their plastic sprues end up looking like they are made of metal??

Another nice option is trying to find some of the old Grey Hunter/Blood Claw boxes lying around. They come with that sprue, as well as a normal (oldstyle) tac/assualt marine box contents. Combine that with the new Space Wolves Pack box pieces, and it gives you even more marines...
