Johnnyb79
Hi there, can anyone settle a bit of a dispute about the wolf guard please. They are bought as a 3-10 Elite choice but may split off to join other units. Now if they join a blood claw (or other troop choice) and the rest of the unit die, do they still count as a scoring unit or revert back to an elite choice? This mainly came up because in other dex's you either get a unit upgrade or an independant character that you can add. As a side note, how do kill points work aswell? if you bought 10 wolf guard and split one off and added it to another unit do you kill 9 for a kill point or have to kill the one on his own to gain the point? or if you bought 3 and added them to 3 seperate units do they count as seperate kill points, kill all 3 for a kill point or get no extra kill points at all for the elite choice? Thanks for any help Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192900-wolf-guard-question/ Share on other sites
stinkenheim
they are treated as part of the unit they are attached to. e.g WG in bloodcaws = troop, WG in Long Fang = Heavy etc if all the wolf guard are split off to lead squads then the enemy doesn't get a kill point as the WG unit doesn't exist. Likewise if WG are attached to, for example, a unit of bloodclaws and the unit (including WG) is destroyed the opponent only gets 1 kill point. I would play it that to gain a kill point for the WG squad you don't count those that are leading other units, so if you have 4 WG and 3 split off to lead units, your opponent only needs to kill the WG who is on his own to gain a kill point for that squad. eschonle
but they still count as an elites slot even if you attach them to another pack? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/192900-wolf-guard-question/#findComment-2291277 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
but they still count as an elites slot even if you attach them to another pack? They still take up an elites slot yes, but the model that is attached to the unit counts as the unit it is attached to for all purposes- including targetting, scoring status, KPs, Close Combat, etc. The Pack takes up the elite slot.
