Home objective units

So I am trying to decide on what unit to use to take and hold my home objective. I am running Logan at 2500 points so I am trying to decide between a 5 man TDA squad with CML, or a 10 man GH squad with Dual plasma Guns and a WG leader. Which unit will provide the best support and defense for my 2 units of long fangs that will be relatively near in Cover. The TDA squad is fewer in number but have 2+/5++ as well as a CML (more missiles always help) along with a bigger threat range due to relentless. On the other hand for the same cost I can get a full 10 man squad with 2x Plasma Guns and a WG pack leader.

what do you guys think is better?

I have to give the nod to the Grey Hunter Pack with WG Pack Leader in this role. TDA Wolf Guard are just too expensive and few to be sitting around on an objective.

They do it well though :P

(especially against an assualty army, i once played Chaos, and my unit of 5 TH/SS Wolf Guard (which i have not used altogether, or at all since), ended up sitting next to a point turn 3/4, so i left them there, all the fire he directed my way (which wasn't that much by that point) bounced off, and they killed some Zerkers in combat....but yeah pretty expensive)

The termies seem expensive for HO sitters until the opponent lands deep sriking termies near that home objective. I use them but switch them to assault if my opponent has no termie deep strike or outflank capability. The CML let's you get some use out of them until the deep strike and will deal with vehicles rushing for the HO.
4 Wolf Guard in Power Armour and 1 in TDA with a CML? :D Very cheap long fang squad, effectively ;]

That or I recommend the happy little 5 GHs in a Razor with Lascannon+Plasma Gun and a Flamer. That unit's been doing wonders for me :D

no.... 5 Long Fangs W/4 ML costs 115 points, that unit costs more, 135, and thats without giving the other wolf guard weapons, which is the only reason to take wolf guard........

I've been using double plasma hunters with a wolf guard (with combi-plasma) to hold objectives and they're amazing. They have the numbers to take casualties and stick around, the Ld bonus from the WG helps with the moral test and anything that gets too close eats 6 shots of plasma in the face, not to mention a hail of bolter rounds.

I run two packs like this and in all the games I've played, they've been shoved off an objective less than a handful of times. Those few times it's happened, they dealt out the pain and it took 2-3 times the points in opponents to do it.
