Niiai
Hi, how many thunderwolf cavalaries is apropriate in a 1500 or 1750 list? I ran my wolf lurd fully equiped last game (260 points, frost blade) vs chaos undivided (alfa legion). However 260 is realy cool, but it is also mega expensive. I loved it so mutch that I want to put together some other thunderwolf riders. They are cheaper then a lord and do moastly the same job. I can't decide if I want 2 units of 2 thunderwolf and 1 hammer and one shield on the same unit. Or if I should go 1 3 thunderwolf squad with 2 shields and one hammer. What do you sugest is a hero at 260 plus 2 mobs of 160 to mutch? It is only 580 after all. Otherwice it would be a hero 260 and one squad at 240 (3 thunderwolves, 2 shields, one hammer) at 500. I must say I realy like the idea of 2 str 10 hammer attack units... Prophecy
I like 3 wolves, 1 hammer and 1 shield. It lets one of them get the extra ccw bonus attack, two get the rending bonus. Plus, I've found that to be the magic number for survivability when paired with a lord. Niiai
Well they only really need to survive one round of shooting. After that they shot of like billiard balls. I start the lord attached to one of the groups. Any heavy weapons shot gets in the wolves of the lord, or one the one with the shield or the one without the shield. It depends. Anyway, I just need to keep the wounds away from the lord and the hammer wolf. After that the crazy 19-24" threat range should make sure that they always are in close combat. In the last game (it was kill points) he had to back up all the empty rhinos / predator and the now canon less vindicator. My lord could just choose from the top shelf what he wanted to destroy that turn. :) I imagine the thunder wolves will be much the same. But perhaps a squad of 3 is better. It is more safe considering they are not so cool once the hammer dies.
