Thanks!

Today I finished up painting the spotter plane for the landing pad and gave it a coat of varnish. It'll need to cure for a few days before I can leave it permanently attached to the chassis so I don't pull off paint, but in the mean time here's a shot of the last ordinatus and a group shot of them. Next up macharius and more titans!

A careful comparison will see the adjusted windows on the quake cannon minorus. I aslo added a yellow and black striped cable to break up the monotony on the back but it's not visible in this shot.

Hey look, I've got more yellow things to post here! I've long needed a couple more devastator detachments for my own marines and I decided to try out some other techniques rather than my usual weathering with these guys. Playing with higher contrast, shading and some basing. Yellow is still a hard color to take a pic of, but this is mostly accurate. I'm pretty happy with the results too. Now on to some test minis for Blood ravens. Hope you enjoy them!

This is just madness.. I find that yellow is a pain to paint on regular model and then you go and paint some awesome yellow on some incredible small, epic, models. On one earlier post someone corrected you and said that this tread and all the models you've shown was "epic" in every sense of the word.

I'm happy to agree with him! Love your work!

Yeah, you can change that thread title, this is truly epic in every way. The scratch built spotter plane is genius, and the amount of detail you cram into these tiny models is nothing but mind-blowing.

Makes me want to build a small (hur hur) Epic army myself. Is it very pricey to get into?

Thanks! I nearly forgot to add a couple more things. After posting the pics of the spotter plane, I decided the intakes needed a bit more definition so I added some cowling to them. I also did up some scratch built epic warhounds for a commission and a couple of warlords for myself.

As far as epic goes, it's far less expensive than 40k. This is especially true if you go with marines where you can get I think 2x tactical, 2x assault, and 2x dev out of a box. After that you need a couple of thunderhawks and a pack of terminators as well as a pack of rhinos and hunters/ww. That comes to around 150 USD and gives you something like this:

Thunderhawk 200

+Dev + Librarian 300

+Assault 175

Thunderhawk 200

+Dev + Librarian 300

+Assault + Chaplain 225

Terminators + captain 375

Terminators + chaplain 375

Tactical + hunter + supreme commander 475 (includes 3x rhinos)

Tactical + Hunter 375 (includes 3x rhino)

3000

You can save money on ebay getting older versions of the troops and rhinos if you want. Other forces are more expensive since there are more metal models needed for transport or units. As far as the commanders go, you can either get the pack from GW or just paint things to look the part. I did that for my terminators.

your commissioned warhound is jaw dropping!

your thread makes me want to switch gears from 28mm to 10mm but as most ppl know, with no one in my LGS to play against i would have to collect two forces and that makes it beyond reason

but to you sIr Well done Very fine work!

Thanks! I had planned on having that sneak peak up last night but a power outage from a storm conspired against me and I got zero painting done past 6:45. Anyway, that has now been fixed and here's the finished test razorback for the Blood Ravens... decals and all. I'm not 100% happy with the red though. I think that starting on a black base ended up with too dark of an overall appearance. I'm thinking that white and then using either dark flesh with a blue wash or scab red and the same technique I did here would work better and give a nicer mini. I have, however, vastly improved my mudding technique on these :woot:

Enjoy.

I think that the scab red being slightly purple got intensified by putting it on a black undercoat. It is a test mini though and based on some of the models the client had already painted using the scab red as a base. I think that the next one will be on a white undercoat which should help but I'm not sure I can get a less purple red without switching to dark flesh as a base. I might be able to tint it a bit with a blood red wash or two.

Thanks! Ok, and now for the second test. This one was painted with the exact same formula as the previous with the only difference being that I primed this one in white. I think this is a much better looking red for the Blood ravens than the purplish that came out of the black primer. I'm really not a fan of the premoulded bases though. They are hard to get the model glued in place right and still look good. The conversion here isn't my own.

Ok, update time and we have razorbacks :) This is the first production set using the new methods. I think that they turned out fairly close in painting standard to the test damocles. There is a bit of contrast issue here along with a slightly different red because these were originally primed black and I went back over them with a light coat of white primer so they wouldn't end up the darker purple color of the original test. Next up I'll be doing three of the battletech mechs before the first set of blood ravens land raiders and then moving on to either more mechs or my 40k tech marine. With any luck I should have him, his servitors and a good bit of work on my last dread conversion done before the end of the year.

After a bit of a break for some battletech stuff (more will be forthcoming in a few weeks) I've finished up the fist of the Blood Raven's land raiders. This batch just happened to be the helios so giant rocket launcher love is a given. :D I'm not too sure how the scheme will translate into the regular raiders since there won't be the large missile rack to break up the reds so this might change a bit as more roll off the production line. Right now the next thing on the list once it cools down is another batch of land raiders.
