Techmarine conversion

A few pics of the techmarine/master of the forge miniature I am working on. I wanted him to have a full servo harness but I'm not a huge fan of the extra arms for the guns, so wanted to do something a bit different. I was originally planning on having a servo skull for each weapon but once I'd done the flamer thought it would be a bit to much, so he has an antique plasma pistol to represent it being master crafted and justifying the re-roll on the servo harness equivalent.

The tyranid servo skull is carrying over a theme from the rest of my UM army given their tyranid fighting background.

The backpack and servo ars are very WIP, I plan on adding the business end of the arms at right angles from the end that is already there so that they hang over the shoulders, just trying to figure out how to do the last bit. The main body is pretty much finished now though.

As always, comments and criticism welcome. Especially ideas for the servo arms!

I love this type of conversions. The mini it is based on looks absolutely rotten in the pic, the greenwork promises way more than to be seen by now.

I cannot wait to see it primed, when for the first time one can see how well it is worked and all the detail is revealed.

The helmet I like in particular.

Good stuff.

Cheers

i like the nid head it is very cool

i would bulk up the servo arms with some guitar wire and armor to make it look more imperiumy and les tuaish

Yeah the two sticking up things look very tauish. You should make them more mechanical like mitchell said. But the helmet is really cool, i like it.

Ok, while I wait for inspiration I've decided to get a bit of paint on the miniature. Got a bit carried away with the red but the left shoulder pad will be repainted in chapter colours. The pics are a bit blury as the battery was about to die in the camera.

The cloak will be painted half white half black with a cog motif around the bottom and possibly the skull and cogwheel on the back.

Don't worry I will be making the servo arms a lot less tau but I quite like the slender look so I don't think they'll get too bulky, just a few pistons, wires and lots of rivets.

More and better pictures with painting pretty much done, just some highlighting on the black half of the cloak and a bit of tidying up.

Last but not least, progress on the servo harness, just needs some greenstuff to bulk it out and add some detail

Also think I'll go back to the right shoulder pad and smooth the transition a bit. For anyone wondering the hole in the cloak is for the servo skull, also not sure whether to make the servo arms a bit shorter so they're not so tall, but can't make my mind up.
