hey B&C...

well, i fixed a few things after the comments and critique from the first submission...

i've also added views that show the freehand on the wreathed skull on top of his backpack...

the front angle was so overshadowed, the inscription "Ignea" didn't show up in the pics...

i really had fun painting this mini, and got to try out a few new techniques (such as realistic flames, and glowing lenses), as well as working on my battledamage and dramatic lighting...

hope you like him...

be sure to click on "all my pictures" if you visit the Coolmini gallery, as i just put a nice looking Lord Commissar as well...

thanks for lookin'...

cheers

thanks Momento...

i paint about 95% with Privateer Press' P3 range...

this guy was a progression fron Gnarls Green (like Dark Angels from GW) over a black undercoat...

then a layer of Iosan Green (snot green works)...

then a layer of Necrotite Green (like Scorpion Green)...

i believe at this point i gave it a wash of GW Thrakka Green wash, though this may have been over the Iosan, and before the Necrotite...

the final highlights (especially on the chips) is a 50-50 mix of Necrotite and White...

that's it...

pretty simple...

it's just a matter of havin' the shadows and highlights in the right place to add a little drama to the lighting...

hope that helps...

cheers

Awesome, thanks. I use a lot of PP stuff myself. I'll definitely be using this for my fledgling Salamander force. I look forward to seeing more of your handiwork!
