Peck
Thanks for the comments, everybody. What about Burton as a dreadnought named for Tim Burton a Illustrator, and director. While I am partial to the odd Tim Burton film and drawing, his name just doesn't seem grim or dark enough for a space marine. :) For the dreadnought, try Validus Pugnus. It's Latin for Mighty Fist. That's cool, but still has the problem of being too long to write on the sarcophagus. I'm aiming for about five letters. I was thinking perhaps Atlas. May I ask what the fluff on these most excellent models is? I do have a little story behind them in my head. The idea is that they're a relatively new chapter descendant from The Ultramarines (probably via the Genesis Chapter, hence the red). Originally they were fastidiously true to their Ultramarines roots and most of their heraldry was adapted from their founding chapter's. This changed, however, when their sole recruiting world was overrun by Hive Fleet Behemoth. Sustaining massive casualties fighting a hopeless battle and with no possible support from other chapters, Captain of the First Company and Chapter Master Thanatos made the decision to initiate a mass evacuation of the world's civilians. This way, the chapter’s recruiting stock could be preserved allowing them, in time, to could recover their losses and be rebuilt. Civilians that were able to make it to the capital were loaded onto chapter ships and sent off-world as the space marines held the line. Thanatos and the larger part of his first company veterans were killed in the last, desperate hours of the siege. Though reduced to a small fraction of its strength, had managed to take its fate into its own hands and secured its future. In mourning, they adapted Thanatos’ personal first company heraldry as their new insignia. The chapter began to distance itself from its Ultramarines heritage, instead celebrating its own history and glories. Being entirely comprised of descendants from those evacuated, each battle brother considers his life owed to the fallen chapter master. Hence they are the Sons of Thanatos. Peck
Cheers everyone. Unfortunately I'm leaving tomorrow so won't have any new pictures to share for a good five months. Really awesome fluff. Where is their fleet at the moment? I've got to be honest; I haven't thought that much about it so I don't know. I don't know the fluff in that much detail. Thanks again, everyone. Catch you later! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193257-the-sons-of-thanatos/page/2/#findComment-2605721 Share on other sites
