Mark of the Wulfen Conversions

I'm in the process of putting together my first GH squads and am interested in how other gamers have represented the Mark of the Wulfen on their models. I've searched ebay for the old 13th Co Wulfen models, but they seem to be as rare as hen's teeth and attract a price to match!

I take the angriest looking one in the pack and paint a blue tattoo around his right eye. I purposefully go a little less over the top as these are fellows who haven't completely given into the Wulfen, like the 13th company Wulfen, but are struggling with it.

I tend to give my Mark of Wulfen models a Chainsword (or CCW in general) & a beastman shield. Just help in games from not pick up the wrong model & just look cool. Idea came from the Lone Wolf art work in the current codex.

I've gone with a marine wielding two chain axes (borrowed from berserkers), in a very dynamic pose, lunging or diving forward. Not exactly a fan of the... werewolf idea, so I just went with a savage brutal looking chap with a pair of chain weapons.

When going through my list with opponents, if I have a model with Mark of the Wulfen, I've gotten nothing but positive feedback.

It also makes it easy to keep the unit looking coherent.

Similarly, Mark of the Wulfen is a good excuse to use the wolf helmet!

The nice part is that its mostly up to you. Some people have gone with using the old 13th company models for individuals that went full wulfen. For mine I just used normal bits from the new sprue, used legs that looked like they were running and gave them suitable "I'll kill you with my bare hands" poses. I left mine completely unarmed, so they can't really be confused armament wise with the normal hunters. I'll also add some warpaint to their hair/faces/armor to mark them as well.

Side note: I had a friend offer me some ghoul hands and seeing the above conversion I might just have to take him up on that...

I don't know how to represent it on wolf guard and sky claws but on my grey hunters I give the one with the chainsword the mark of the wolfen. The rest just have bolters. I also make tiny scratch marks on his armor but they can be hard to see from far away.

The other ideas also sound good.

The way i personally feel about MotW is...

I modeled them this way because i feel that a marine with MotW would be on the verge of sanity, which is what i tried to model. I believe with just like a tattoo on the face or something like that makes the model look to tame to allow d6 attacks, and any model from the old wulfen range or to much transformed makes them look to feral and dangerous to ride in a rhino with anybody but themselves. So, i modeled with chaos maurader arms to look like he is starting to transform, thus not all of his armor fits correctly anymore (not that he would care anyway), and i modeled him hunched over to look a bit more like he is about to strike. I also gave him 2 small looking axes, to represent the fact that either he, or someone else in the fang knows he dosent care to much about weapons anymore and gave him a pair of axes nobody cares if are lost.

Also he isnt done being painted.

carnage!

Well, I've just found 5 Wulfen mini's on eBay for 1.20£ so I guess you just have to look a bit.

good luck on spending £30+ ive seen a single sealed box go for nearly £80

This is the way I see the mark of the wulfen.

A Grey Hunter, who has awoken his "Canis Helix", "the spirit of the Wolf" in the middle of the ferocious and bloody battle and unleashed the fury of the "Wulfen" to rip off the heads of his enemies!
