Anyone run a combined DH/WH "Radical" list?

Hi all.

Does anyone run a Pure Radical Inquisitor list?

I was thinking of fiddling with one with the following general loadout:

Witch Hunters Inquisitor Lord

Daemon Hunters Inquisitor Lord

3x Daemonhosts

1x unit of Arcoflagellants

1x Assassin (likely a couple of DCAs or a Culexis)

Xx Penitent Engines

3-4 IST squads in Chimeras

1x Orbital Bombardment when points allow

The list is a Witch Hunters parent, to unlock the Arcos and the Engines, and then the Daemonhunter Inquis Lord to unlock the Daemonhosts.

Since none of the available Fast Attack choices fit the theme, I was thinking of taking a couple squadrons of Inducted Guard Scout Sentinels with Missile Launchers or Lascannons, just to round out the FOC. Of course, that would make this a three-book army (though luckily I own all three already).

Basically, I just wanted to take all the weirdos and freaks from both books, put them on the table, and run them at the enemy. Assassins to hit the soft spots, and ISTs to hold the line.

Anyone run anything like this? It obviously won't win 'Ard Boyz or anything, but is it at least hilarious to play?

I think you'd almost have to pull in some inducted IG to flesh out the list's functionality - ISTs work well enough to supplement a Grey Knight force, but when they're the backbone of your troops, the Guards just do the job so much better, and cheaper.

As far as the Assassins go, I'd take the Callidus - the Culexis just doesn't have enough targets to do its job properly, and the Independent rules just make DCAs absolutely wither under any type of resistance. If you're set on using an Assassin (and in a fluffy list, they're lots of fun!) I'd use the Callidus, and have it dedicate its efforts to taking out their 'support' character. You know, the one that sits in the back of the army and causes havoc wherever he needs it most, like Eldrad or the Chaos Sorcerer.

Also, the Orbital Bombardments are remarkably poor shows for their points cost. Maybe think about replacing them with some Guard tanks? Anyway, that's just my two cents. :D

Aren't daemonhosts elites? the Arco-flaggelants are elits also as well as the assassion. Plus you need to throw a priest on there to get penitent engines and arco flaggellants. Given your list I assume you will stick him with the IST's. I'd lose the bombardment as its terribly inaccurate and once your opponents figures out where you must be shooting it each round he will just avoid it assuming it comes in at all before turn 4. I would use your Inquisitor Lords to grab a Land Raider or perhaps a Valkyrie if you are using IA rules. The Chimeras from the codex just bite, but they are not bad if you use the IA rules for them.

With a little tweaking and using IA rules it might be a fun list to play with. I can't say as usually run a pure Sisters army with the occasional light Inquisitorial support in the form of a lord with a Land Raider and the rare assassion.

I have a pure radical DH army... or technically I'm building one.

Inq Lord + Retinue + LR

3 from a choice of

3 Daemonhosts

3 DCA

3 Inquisitor + Retinue

ISTs some mounted in Chimera

Orbital Bombardment

Yes hilarity ensues.... winning maybe not so much but then again I'm still learning my craft

Yes, Daemonhosts are Elites, but you can buy up to three of them with one FOC slot (and you can only buy that one slot's worth).

I'd forgotten that the Priest unlocked the Arcos and the Engines, not the WH Lord. I'd like chop him out of the list in that case. The Priest would pretty much have to join the ISTs, since I won't be using any Sisters. I don't figure Sisters would willingly fight alongside Daemonhosts.

Definitely a half-baked list, but I'm kinda yearing to play something with a really small model count.

I played the following 1500 pt list against a friend of mines SM the other week, he has only been playing for a year but takes a very shooty force, the list I used was:

Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Lord Proximo

Inferno Pistol, Power Weapon, Rosarius, His Will Be Done, 3 Crusaders, Familiar, Chirurgeon, Acolyte, Acolyte with Brazier of Holy

Fire, Land Raider with Extra Armour, Smoke Launchers.

Ordo Malleus Inquisitor Lord Quixos

Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Vet. Guardsman with Grenade Launcher, Vet. Guardsman with Flamer, Vet. Guardsman with Hellgun.

Priest

Laspistol, Power Weapon.

3 Daemonhosts

3 Arco-flagellants

5 Inquisitorial Storm Troopers

2 Meltaguns, Rhino with Extra Armour, Smoke Launchers.

6 Inquisitorial Storm Troopers

Vet. Sergeant with Plasma Pistol, 2 Plasma Guns, Rhino with Extra Armour, Smoke Launchers.

Penitent Engine

Penitent Engine

Penitent Engine

Using this list I managed to pull out a minor victory by holding one objective and using the rest of my army to scare my opponent away from the others. The Daemonhosts deepstriked in turn 3 but didnt do anything of note, while the PEs were able to each destroy a combat squad.

My list

It's technically not "pure" radical, since I have those Sisters in there. However, I treat them as being merely elite soldiers in the Inquisitor's personal cadre, rather than actual SoBs. You can read in that thread about a couple games I've played with the list, and how it has performed. I haven't used it in a while, but I remember being quite happy with it, both in terms of effectiveness and in terms of having a lot of fun.
