I just thought I'd share some pictures and discussion about the DIY chapter that I'm working on. I recently got back into 40k and decided that my old Tyranid army didnt have enough individual character for me, so I'm working on a chapter of Space Marines. I saw a picture of the White Minotaurs in my old How To Paint Space marines book and it led me towards a gold color scheme, something I don't see too often.

So far I've only got a VERY rough test model done as I'm still waiting on the scenic bases to arrive from Secret Weapon before I get started in earnest. Here's the test, a random Death Company marine I had sitting around. Sorry for the picture quality, I'll take better once I really get rolling with this.

I've made a slight change to the scheme however. The picture shows the model primed black and then sprayed with Tamiya TS Gold spray, with a very light wash of Badab Black. I did one late last night that was primed white, sprayed the gold, then washed with Gryphonne Sepia. It gave a much richer gold, and I'll be going that route. Also, I couldn't decide which red I liked for the shoulders better, so I tried two different ones. I think I'll stick with his chainsword shoulder. Although that red took many more layers, I like the brighter color.

The scenic bases I'll be using:

Yes I really like the gold, are you going to post your other gold too?

Thanks! I was impressed out how smooth it came out. The only downside is the tamiya spray comes in these little cans, so I'll likely have to get another 1 or 2 cans to basecoat the army.

And I absolutely will post the other gold tonight. I'll try for better lighting as well.

Nice im looking forward to seeing an army of these guys!

I would of suggested these bases form dark arts which were suggested to me by cypherstone.

I prefer these to yours cause of they have got more lava.

Thanks very much! I saw those when I was looking at bases, but the secretweapon ones caught me a little bit, but I think that's because I was envisioning a 'less is more' approach to the lava. Honestly, I'd probably have been very happy with either set.
