Metal Apostle
Hey everyone. Maybe some of you have seen my resin Sisters of Battle kit in the Works in Progress part of the forum, i figured that it should be just that. A blog showing the progression and development of my army. However, i think the finished units themselves should really be living here. So here's the start of what i consider an interactive display of my completed stuff; whilst i'll continue displaying developments in my other thread. Anyway, enough chit-chat; here are some completed Sisters. I happened to had finished the a few scheme test models the night before Golden Bolter deadline, so "for the lulz" i figured it wouldn't hurt to throw them in anyway, so you may recognize some of these girls. These fill out the bulk of my army, the 7 bolter sisters for each of the 3 squads i'm going to be fielding in my 1500pts. Superiors and special weapons yet to come. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_0051copy.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_0054.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_0055.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_0056.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_0058.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_0059.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu327/Twisted-Sister/IMG_0060.jpg My main concern right now is the machete wielding sisters. Whilst i'm happy with them as individual models, i feel that the huge knives take away from the significance of the Sister Superiors (yet to be modelled,) but they're simply going to have bolters and a book. I'm thinking of replacing these with much smaller knives (like the 2nd ed space marine ones). What do you think? Lysimachus
Overall these are beautiful, fantastic work. If I had to criticize anything it would be that I don't like the set of legs used on the sisters on the right hand side in the 1st and 3rd pics, and left of the 4th. Not sure if it's the angle but they just don't look right to me? As far as the knives go, I think they're ok, perhaps you could just shorten the length of them slightly? (y'know, cut out a section of the middle of the blade and stick the tip back on?) anyway, beautiful stuff! apologist
Spectacular work, and I think that simply using the chainswords from the scout sprue for the Sister Superiors will work well. The huge machetes are a nice look. :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193510-adepta-sororitas-ready-for-battle/#findComment-2298798 Share on other sites
ghosty
Now you are a far better sculptor than I could be, and I mean no disrespect. But, is it me, or are the faces lacking in definition? I point to the cheeks and the seeming lack of detail there, was it just bad lighting when you were taking your photos? Terminatorinhell
GW should hire you to do the sisters! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193510-adepta-sororitas-ready-for-battle/#findComment-2299267 Share on other sites
GI Joker
Those look fantastic. I am very impressed by what you were able to do making these mostly from scratch. They look way better than the ancient (first came out in 2nd ed) sisters that they have now. Why they didn't come out with a plastic kit when when the codex came out I have no clue. jlmb_123
Well done for seeing this through and producing such nice miniatures. It's nice to see GW's background executed using somebody else's sculpting style. Rob_Loken
Excellent work on those sisters. Good use of scout parts in amongst some fantastic sculpting. Nice one for getting away from those horrible haircuts the metal sisters come with too. Sister Rosette Soulknyt
They are amazing loving peices of work, bravo. I note the knives and they look odd and out of place with the SoB, maybe consider that they use sarrissa's alot more than they would knives, just my thoughts. The faces look good to, hey market those and you have a fan base just there. Cant wait to see what a Retributor Sister looks like. David the Despoiler
If you're looking for other knives, why not grab some of the Combat Blades from the Space Marine or CSM sprue? However, I nonetheless think these models are great. Well done! lostsoul
I followed your main thread then hopped aboard this one, you know how you pour over a heavy metal page in a White Dwarf drinking up whatever miniatures it is you like and they made look lovely or featured them with loving presentation? I've been doing just that, admiring your Sisters. Hope you're proud of them, I would be. Hope to see your finished versions of Celestian, Dominion & Retributor Squads packing heavy weapons, painted and on display too one day. Strange as it seems, I'm excited to see how you make Seraphim - I like their jump packs while many like making them more like wings, making them angelic. So for me, theres lots more fun to come as you work on more developements. Theres some great talent at Bolter&Chainsword, I'm enjoying exploring. Thanks for sharing, I'm hooked. Argon
Who are these lovely ladies? Very nice job. I'm stunned these aren't GW models, because they really should be.
