http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/Lions-2.jpg

Marked by a savage brutality, the great crusade of the Lions of Caliban moves throughout the Imperium. They battle the enemies of the Imperium and seek knowledge in all its forms. It can be said that in their search for knowledge, the Lions walk a thin line between zealot and heretic. Will their downfall be at the hands of the Ordos Hereticus or their brothers within the Adeptus Astartes, or will they fall to the Chaos they have unwittingly unleashed upon the Imperium. Only time will tell.

Brother Kalin, 3rd Company, 1st Squad

Following the 1st Black Crusade of Abaddon the Despoiler, the Adeptus Astartes had been weakened due to battle losses. In response, the High Lords of Terra deemed a new founding necessary and ordered the creation of several new Chapters of the Space Marines. This was to be the 3rd Founding, and by order of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Angels of Absolution provided the leadership and a training cadre of veterans for a new crusading Chapter.

Commander Dolgrim, Master of the 2nd Company of the Angels of Absolution, was chosen as Supreme Grand Master of the new Chapter. With the training cadre of Veterans provided, he immediately set about to recruit and train new marines. From the great stores of the Adeptus Mechanicus, they were given geneseed and for the next twenty years the Chapter grew and learned to act as one. Named to honor the legendary Lion El'Jonson and his ancestral home, they were presented their fleet by the Adeptus Mechanicus and given the daunting mission to take the war to the enemies of the Imperium. So was born the Lions of Caliban Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes. The path was set before them and their great crusade began.

As is the way of Space Marines, small bands of Scouts act as a vanguard for the fleet and probe the path before them. When enemies of the Imperium are discovered, they interrogate captives and locals before the main chapter forces arrive to deal the killing blow. Over time, due either to ingenuity or necessity, the Scouts began to gather information solely by killing and devouring the hearts of enemy troops and even locals that may have useful information, utilizing their Omophagea implants to quickly learn what they need. Although this practice was frowned upon, it was recognized that gathering information in this manner was more efficient and the practice continued.

As the centuries passed, those Scouts became full Battle Brothers and later Sergeants, Masters, and even the Grand Masters composing the Inner Circle. They carried the practice of eating the hearts of the dead with them and it flourished within the Chapter. Many rites and rituals grew from it, and each generation of Lions adding to its ever growing animalistic nature. Eventually the eating of the hearts was expanded to encompass the total body. Now, within the great chapels of of the fleet's Battle Barges and Strike Cruisers, gruesome trophies of battle adorn the walls, and the many chambers and passages of the inner sancta are littered with the bones of fallen foes.

The Righteous Fury

Only a few centuries after the inception of the chapter, a strange phenomena began to appear within its ranks. As the chapter was engaged in battle, a few Battle Brothers would fly into an uncontrollable fury and rush headlong into hand to hand combat with enemy forces. At first it was a rarity, only one or two brothers would be overcome by the fury at a time. The act was discouraged and aboard the fleet's flagship, Chaplains and Librarians studied the affected brothers in an attempt learn the cause of the fury, and find a way to control it. Because of its rarity, it was deemed a minor concern at the time. As the centuries passed however, it has become much more prevalent, reaching every level of command. This, as much as anything else, has added to the chapter’s reputation of savage brutality in combat.

The Mistress of Pain

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/th_Raven_by_MonkeydanceGuy.jpg

Symbol of Shea'an

After battling the forces of Chaos on the feral world of Largos III, the Lions uncovered a stone obelisk bound by ancient metal bands. The bands bore the mark of Khorne. In the interest of the knowledge that may be gained, the obelisk was transported to the Battle barge Veritas, the Lions flagship.

Decades of study and probing by the the Lion's Chief Librarian and his psychic brothers uncovered much about the stone. Shea'an the Tormentor, a minor Chaos god, had rebelled against her master. For her transgressions, Khorne had imprisoned her within the obelisk for all eternity. For more centuries then could be counted, the obelisk had stood on Largos III as a warning to any that would dare question the power of Khorne.

Considering the danger of having the ancient stone aboard the Veritas, the knowledge that a Chaos god had been imprisoned and held for centuries made further study a necessity that justified the risk it entailed. Even taking the greatest care in their study, it was inevitable that over time the psychics would fall under the Chaos gods infernal influence.

The Doton Incident

Deep within the dead world of Doton, the Lions fought along side a full regiment of the Imperial Guard to beat back a large swarm of Tyranids. In the rough tunnels, the normal tactics of the Lions became confused and combat broke into small close skirmishes.

Meeting heavy resistance, a squad of Feral Lions supported by two squads of Imperial Guards fought a hard won battle with a seemingly unending swarm of genestealers. It was a long and brutal fight, two of the Feral Lions and half the Guards fell to the Tyranids.

So taken by the fury, and finding no more Tyranids to fight, the surviving Feral Lions turned on the remaining Guards. In the confining space of the tunnels, the Guards didn't stand a chance and quickly were dispatched. Only when no one else was left standing did the Feral Lions regain their senses. Official reports of the encounter would show the Imperial Guard dying honorably in combat against the Tyranids.

The Grand Masters of the Inner Circle fear that further incidents of this nature would surely draw unneeded, and unwanted, attention on the Chapter. In response, they are reluctant to deploy the Feral Lions in situations where they would be forced to fight alongside those outside the chapter.

Tainted by chaos the Librarians broke the restraining bands, freeing the weakened god before setting their efforts to the attempted taking of the Veritas. Many Battle Brothers fell to the attacks of the psykers, but a vicious counter-attack by Battle Brothers overtaken by the Righteous Fury ended the conflict and forced the newly released Chaos god to flee. When it was over the obelisk was shattered, over a dozen Lions lay dead, and the Mistress of Pain had disappeared into the warp. All that was left was for the Lions to share what they'd learned with their brethren.

There were mixed feelings over the report delivered at the Summit on the Rock, however. While the release of any new chaos god was terrible news, hearing that there may well be a means of possible containment for this god, and all others, gave a glimmer of hope that Chaos could be defeated once and for all.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/lion-logo-trans2.png Homeworld

The Lions of Caliban are a fleet based chapter to a large extent. The capital ships of the fleet normally stay in close, while the frigates manned by Scout squads, range far and wide probing for enemies of the Imperium. Only the Strike Cruiser Venator carrying the Black Lions, regularly ranges far from the fleet in their search for the Fallen.

Though the Lions are more at ease on the move, it is not uncommon for them to set up a base on a world when combat operations require them to remain in a given area for an extended period of time. For this reason, old, unused Lion Monasteries can be found on several worlds throughout the Imperium.

The Lions recruit on the move, taking prospective youths from planets they encounter in their crusade. Most of these youths are proven unworthy and never make it into the honored ranks of the Lions. None live to return home. The backgrounds of the marines in the chapter are as diverse as any in the Adeptus Astartes. Each adding their uniqueness to the whole of the chapter.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/lion-logo-trans2.png Organization

Now led by Supreme Grand Master Traegen, the Lions of Caliban are organized similarly to the Dark Angels with only a few significant differences. The changes are a recent development to honor the Righteous Fury and its power against the forces of Chaos.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/WerewolfClaws.png
Once called the White Lions, the 1st Company was recently renamed to the Feral Lions. It is comprised of those marines that either no longer have the ability, or desire, to hold back the Righteous Fury in battle. To maximize their killing potential, they are issued Terminator armor and close combat weapons exclusively. They tear holes in enemy formations for the rest of the chapter to follow. The Feral Lions have a permanent contingent of Land Raiders for carrying the Terminator squads.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/lions_new-2.png
The 2nd Company is called the Black Lions and was once much like the Ravenwing of the Dark Angels. Following the chapter's reorganization, its ranks now hold the most elite Veterans in the chapter and, along with the Inner Circle, they have full knowledge of the Fallen. It remains a highly specialized formation used for scouting and assault missions where speed is more important then heavy firepower. Unlike the Ravenwing of the Dark Angels, the Black Lions use only jump packs and almost always deep strike into combat. This allows them to act in concert with the Feral Lions with maximum efficiency while still allowing quick scouting maneuvers of enemy formations. Their favorite tactic is to flank enemy formations and strike at command units, destroying the enemies will to battle. A quick, decisive, victory is their goal.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/ghostlion-1.jpg

Brother Sergeant Auton, 2nd Company, 2nd Squad

Although listed as the 10th Company, the Scouts, also called Cubs, acts more independently than any other company in the chapter. Each slightly oversized squad is deployed aboard a Gladius-class Frigate and ventures far out from the safety of the fleet, always searching for enemies for the chapter to strike. The Scouts seldom take part in the chapter's attacks, their mission is one of intelligence gathering not direct combat.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/lion-logo-trans2.png Combat Doctrine

The combat doctrine of the Lions of Caliban has been well honed over thousands of years. Bands of Scouts, operating from small ships forward of the fleet, undertake scouting operations and always precede a Lion attack. Using the information gathered by the Scouts the fleet presses the attack, normally en masse.

Squads of Feral Lions are often used to punch holes in enemy formations while the Black Lions drop in and attack the heart of their foes. Assault squads follow the Feral Lions taking full advantage of any weakness before them. They are all covered by constant fire from Tactical squads, while Devastator squads target any heavy units in range.

Every generation of the Lions is marked by a rise in savage brutality in combat. It is not uncommon for a large number to fall under the righteous fury and charge headlong into enemy formations, tearing at them with close combat weapons or even their bare hands.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/lion-logo-trans2.png Beliefs

Much like the Angels of Absolution, their parent chapter, and the other Chapters of The Unforgiven, the Lions forever hunt the Fallen. The Lions hold this duty supreme, and follow it with such vigor that they will withdraw from battle or suspend the search for knowledge to pursue the Fallen when located. The Lions coordinate their activities with the Dark Angels and their successor Chapters in regard to this secret mission. It is not unknown for the Lion's Supreme Grand Master to join the summit on the Rock. Also like their parent chapter, the Lions revere knowledge. The Lions however, hold it in such a high regard as to be verging on heresy.

The Lions are a chapter at odds with itself. When in battle, the Lions seem to be a completely different Chapter. They are torn between the time honored ideals and rituals the chapter began with and the newer, more savage, ones that have grown over the centuries. A cautious secrecy within the chapter has grown to hide the more animalistic beliefs from the more 'civilized' members of the Imperium.

Knowledge, no Matter the Cost

Several times over the centuries, the Lions have diverted from their mission to pursue rumors of relics and long forgotten knowledge. Many Lions have readily given their lives to capture even the smallest bit of this knowledge. The Chaplains of the Lions direct these hunts and, aboard the Battle Barge Veritas, catalog and protect the relics and sacred texts once found.

The Harvest
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/TemplarSecundusTerminator-1.jpg

Brother Uster, 1st Company, 4th Squad

Like every other chapter, the Lions gather their honored dead and return them to the fleet. The precious geneseed is then harvested so the chapter can grow and replace the lost. As the chapter grew more savage, it became common practice for the bodies to then be consumed by his Lion brothers in great feasts. It is a solemn ceremony where the strength and courage of the dead are celebrated, great songs of heroes are sang, and the dead are eaten with high reverence. In this way, the lost are completely reabsorbed in the chapter.

Early in the chapter's history the Lions also began to bring the enemies dead back to the fleet as well. At first it was simply to harvest teeth, claws and even skulls to be used as trophies to celebrate their victory. As with their fallen brothers, it also later became common to devour the bodies of their enemies in great feasts. It is not however, a solemn ceremony as with the fallen brothers. There is much drinking, celebrating and laughter involved. Degrading their enemies even after death.

Only the Strong Survive

Mock battles once used to practice close combat have changed to more savage tests of strength. Its now common to find nude Lions locked in hand to hand combat. Normally the fights end in first blood, but as the fury become more prevalent its becoming more common for brothers for fight for hours and for the fights to last until one Lion lies dead.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/lion-logo-trans2.png Geneseed

The geneseed of Lion El'Jonson, by way of the Angels of Absolution, was used to create the Lions of Caliban. All the geneseed are pure and functioning properly. Tests within the chapter have determined that the Righteous Fury is not a part of the geneseed but caused by a yet undetermined source, perhaps with time the true cause of the fury can be determined.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/lion-logo-trans2.png Battle Cry

Originally the battle cry for the chapter was ‘For Knowledge’, but has changed over time to angry animalistic roars preceding the attack.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/lion-logo-trans2.png Playing the Lions of Caliban

To accurately represent the Lions of Caliban on the tabletop, several game play changes must be taken into consideration. (5th Edition)

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/lion-logo-trans2.png Traits

And They Shall Know No Fear

Righteous FuryFeral Lions squads begin play with this trait and replace the And They Know No Fear trait with the Furious Charge and Rage traits.

For Lions of Caliban Infantry and Jump Infantry units without this trait, each model in the unit must roll a D6 whenever the unit is assigned a wound. Each model that rolls a 6 becomes an Independent Character and replace the And They Shall Know No Fear trait with the Furious Charge and Rage Traits for the rest of the scenario. Those that become Independent Characters in this manner may not subsequently join a unit.

Lions of Caliban Independent Characters roll a D6 when they or the unit they have joined take a wound. On a roll of 6 they replace their And They Shall Know No Fear trait with the Furious Charge and Rage traits and loose the ability to join with a unit.

Preferred Enemy – Units of the Black Lions[/b] company add units and characters designated as the Fallen as Preferred Enemies.

Not long after the heresy, the Dark Angels decided that to battle chaos it was best to know chaos. With this in mind a special company was establised with the sole purpose of seeking out any and all information about their enemies.

:)

You realise you have just altered the background of a Chapter that is not just established, but is a Chapter of Legend?

Yes the man who successfully built a chapter around marines of a heritic legion is back

careful.... :)

Not long after the heresy, the Dark Angels decided that to battle chaos it was best to know chaos. With this in mind a special company was establised with the sole purpose of seeking out any and all information about their enemies.

Thier mission was on the edge of heresy so secrecy was the first order of business. Much later the company was made a full chapter (founding not decided), and have expanded thier original mission. Not only do they seek info on chaos, but to liberate all relics of the old Imperium, the Imperor, and the Primarchs.

By saying 'the Dark Angels decided', you are kinda implying that the entire or majority of the Chapter decided this, effectively altering their background, not adding dimension.

That being said, I love the idea. I just think there is some stuff getting in the way. Why the secret Company? How would this secret company (with shady goals) be allowed to become a fully fledged Chapter? Why not just have them be an early (3rd, 4th) founding Chapter. The secret company idea is cheesy and only stands in the way of the good stuff. Plus, you could make the training cadre the only ones with the extreme beliefs, not the entire Dark Angels Chapter.

Other than that I quite like it. Seeking Chaos knowledge to battle Chaos was a characterful twist on the Dark Angels on it's own, but that they eventually started to eat their enemies was really cool. And hinting at them eventually falling to Chaos makes it more believable to me and adds some more of that Dark Angels tragedy.

Other Comments. Believing that knowledge of Chaos is good, I could see this Chapter letting every member know about the Fallen, not just the Inner Circle.

About the name, I can't say I'm a fan of any of those. I would go for straight up English, but Death Eaters is too obvious.

The Darker Angels, maybe?

Yes the man who successfully built a chapter around marines of a heritic legion

Two things.

Firstly, many, many other people helped you turn a weak idea into a better one. To say that you're the "man who successfully built [the] chapter" overlooks them.

Secondly, there remain inconsistencies and questionable facets of the Order of the White Hand's background which do not fit well with the established universe. You don't seem to care about them, but they're there nonetheless. Their 'success' is, at best, a qualified one.

Origins (short version): Not long after the heresy, the Dark Angels decided that to battle chaos it was best to know chaos. With this in mind a special company was establised with the sole purpose of seeking out any and all information about their enemies.

A ) Don't dictate about official Chapters.

B ) As Codex Grey said, secret companies are not cool. Honest.

Thier mission was on the edge of heresy so secrecy was the first order of business. Much later the company was made a full chapter (founding not decided), and have expanded thier original mission. Not only do they seek info on chaos, but to liberate all relics of the old Imperium, the Imperor, and the Primarchs.

Why would they not be made a Chapter in the Second Founding? This would make far more sense as one of the Second Founding DA Chapters.

Furthermore, this is redundant with the existing BA formations dedicated to hunting the Fallen.

Captives - Some minions of chaos are taken back for interrogation (yes this may seem to contridict what I just said but keep reading), after no more info can be gained, they area 'invited' to a feast ... yes they are the main course.

Why would this practice arise? This risks serious physical and mental corruption - there would have to be a very, very good reason, and it would still make little sense for every marine to do so.

You could do something about reabsorbing the Fallen into their ranks - literally.

Friend or Foe - In order to gain as much info on the enemy as possible, they eat fallen marines, IG, AdMech, etc. All done in secret of course. Nothing can be proven (one specific confict will be discussed), but this is where they got the nickname (spoken behind their backs of course) of Death Eaters

If it's so secret, how come people know about it?

* * *

The idea needs some serious thinking. It might work, but right now the Chapter has a lot of needless official ties which get in the way of them eating people. At minimum, you need to lose the secret company angle - it's not necessary, and screams "LOOKIT HOW COOL WE ARE!"

the Imperor,

The mischievous and vastly more humerous alter ego of the Emperor perhaps?

I can't really add anything else on top of what has already been said other than the fact that I am severely frowning at the line about eating the flesh of corrupted enemies.

It's like you know that there are a band of ferocious killers outside your house who want to kill you, but you decide that you want to know who they are and where they come from, so you step outside to have a quick chat.

Just how in the world do you come to that decision? You either need to be quite insane... off your trolly, nuttier than a squirrels winter-horde, a couple of sandwiches short of a picknick.... a total lunatic.

I say this with the greatest respect but when I read it I did a double-take, and you don't often do that with almost anything unless your starring in a comedy-capers skit.

You just made me imagine a chapter based on the Keystone Cops then, now that would be amusing, but I digress.... ^_^

Eating the flesh of the enemy is a canon part of SMs, taking it to the extreme didn't happen overnight ... and I'll be elaborating more on that.

Making them an earlly chapter, fine ... digressing more into the insanity as the years pass.

I'll be working on updates and posting them as they come.

And I did not forget all the help with the White Hand, but it was my idea none the less.

Greetings, Ecritter,

I like your basic idea. A borderline heretical chapter can be a cool concept. Plus, you have come up with an extraordinarily bizarre application of the Omophagea gland. (It's a bit freaky, but the organ is described as a tool for gathering intelligence from eating flesh in the Codex, so your idea makes sense.)

However, I also have some pretty major criticisms, which are better addressed at this early stage in your writing:

First, I strongly urge you NOT to use the Dark Angels as your progenitor chapter, especially if your own Chapter is a contemporary one. It makes no sense at all and completely contradicts the Dark Angel's background. They have spent 10,000 years dreading that the Imperium will discover part of their number went over to Chaos in the Heresy, and dedicated themselves to hunting down and exterminating their tainted brethren. For 10,000 years! They and their successors have structured their entire organization not only to carry out this task, but even to keep lower ranking brothers from learning about their shame and association with Chaos. If there is any chapter who wouldn't embark on this path, it's the Dark Angels.

That said, as long as you don't use the Dark Angels for the reasons I pointed out above, or the Grey Knights for similar reasons, I don't think your progenitor chapter really matters all that much. In fact, I'd suggest several other alternative Chapters who are more radical in their beliefs and practices for your parent geneseed: The Relictors (who collect Chaos artifacts to fight Chaos...though your Chapter would have to be founded before the Inquisition started keeping a sharper eye on them, I think); The Mortifactors/Mortificators (How the heck DO you spell their name correctly? Never mind. They have their own death-worshipping cult and semi-cannibalistic practices, according to the Uriel Ventris novels.); The Death Spectres (with a name like that, and stationed in an area called "The Ghoul Stars", they are a chapter begging for a creepy successor to help them out); or the Sons of Malice (you could have your force founded prior to their excommunication, and they secretly practiced cannibalistic rituals).

If you use the Sons of Malice or Relictors, I wouldn't state your Chapter's origin outright; instead, I'd suggest keeping it mysterious. For example: "The Chapter is notoriously close-mouthed about its origins and founding; but some Imperial observers have muttered darkly about their similarity to other Chapters that have fallen from the Emperor's Grace, such as..." Something like that, perhaps.

Second criticism: Using two names for your Chapter is unnecessary. In my opinion, too many people use the "Chapter was named X but changed its name to Y" cliche, but also because the Latin name has nothing to do with your Chapter's creepy and interesting theme. Focus on what makes your Chapter stand out, and trim away what you don't need. The pseudo-Latin is unimportant.

Last criticism: I don't know if it was intentional or not, but "Death Eaters," though cool and descriptive, immediately reminds me of Harry Potter novels and films and breaks my suspension of disbelief. You don't want the reader picturing seven-foot tall Astartes in Quidditch robes. I'd suggest keep "Eaters" but change the name to remove the Potter reference. Possibly "Sin Eaters," "Shadow Eaters," "Soul Eaters" or something like that. If the "Flesh Tearers" are a loyalist chapter, I don't see why one can't be named the "Soul Eaters."

Good luck! It's an interesting idea and I think you could build them into a creepy, colorful IA article.

well I've decided on Templars Secundus with this color scheme.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/ecritter/Space%20Marines/TemplarSecundus2.jpg

Sticking with Dark Angels 3rd Founding, yeah they'll start out more inline with normal DA doctrine ... but move farther into insanity as the centuries move on, like the original Templars.

Sticking with Dark Angels 3rd Founding, yeah they'll start out more inline with normal DA doctrine ... but move farther into insanity as the centuries move on, like the original Templars.

I believe that any such "insanity" would draw the attention of the Dark Angels and their Successors, lest a Chapter give away the Big Secret... Another reason for choosing a different Geneseed.

Why is the Dark Angels Geneseed so important?

A few reasons.

The DA has an innate need for secrecy due to the Fallen, Templars will play off this and expand it in their own growing insanity

DA was the first legion and one of the most respected force in the Imperium, who better to father a chapter falling into insanity

The insanity is coming to happen slowly in small steps, nothing drastic to draw attention of others, even then it'll be well hidden

Those are just a few reasons

The DA has an innate need for secrecy due to the Fallen, Templars will play off this and expand it in their own growing insanity

Whether they have a need for secrecy is another thread entirely, but the Dark Angels are only the GW poster boys for the secretive Chapter.

DA was the first legion and one of the most respected force in the Imperium, who better to father a chapter falling into insanity

Being First Legion gave nothing in terms of pride or honour, except to the Lion in the HH novels, and all the Legions were respected.

Which makes no sense when you consider "who better...".

In the end it comes down to I want to use the DA, and if I write it up correctly ... it'll all work out.

But you're forcing yourself into a corner, which you don't need to do... Any Geneseed would work for a secretive Chapter, because the secret of the Dark Angels is very specific.

... and if I write it up correctly ... it'll all work out.

Which just makes it all the more likely that you wont write it up correctly. Would you rather hit yourself in the head with a 7lb lumphammer or an inflated balloon? becuase right now you've picked up the lumphammer. Good luck, but you're gonna have a lot of trouble ahead.

I have to agree with the anti-DA sentiment here, it does seem like they are the hardest pick to use.

Not only that but this seems more like your determined to have a real dig at the emo-robe-wearers.

I don't think the DA and successors would have any issues with destroying your chapter if even a hint of something being amiss was let out. They would come down harder than the Inquisition ever could I'd imagine. Keeping a secret from the rest of the DA when they all work together to an extent to find the fallen is a hard task.

Well as it is eating the dead is not uncommon for SMs, the ability is built into all SMs .... so I've not written anything 'yet' that would make teh DAs or any other chapter come after them as heretics, but I will be soon but like the original Templars it'll all be secret rites and not known outside the chapter. For the record the DAs are my fav canon chapter ... loved them for years.

I've also decided to change to Angels of Absolution successor chapter after reading more on the DA successors, so with that in mind I've reworked the color scheme a bit.

Comments?

I think your fluff would definetly work better being branched off of a DA sucessor. It would be easier to explain how what is happening is being overlooked. As for the "Flesh eating chaos-curious" habits of your chapter, i think its a great idea and shows the gradual and slow rise of chaos. Nothing instantly turns into a chaos monster... except those times when people instantly turned into chaos monsters...

It would be a great honor to purge your heretical chapter with fire in the Emperor's name.

I dont find that the Marines would look at eating the flesh of the enemys in a good way since they dislike the kroot and their eating habbits which you attempting to do is make Space KrootMarines of Dark Angel secret Badassery. SO I too would suggest a new gene stock to have come from.SPOILERS LIE AHEAD CONCERNING A 1K SONS

Hell look at the Blood Ravens they come from Magus the Red (A Thousand Sons gives it away and it just makes sense otherwise) And what are the Ravens doing keeping their mouths shut because they dont want the dramas.

How can you say "I don't find that the Marines would look at eating the flesh of the enemys in a good way," considering that part of the geneseed is made to do just that? I think people are overlooking the fact that all SMs do it, just cause they don't want to say their chapters do.
