I took a shine to this fantastic model the other day and so bought one without hesitation, and I have to say it was well worth it..

He's only been assembled as you can see but I wanted a question answered..

He is supposed to be deathwatch, hence the deathwatch shoulder pad, but I don't want to paint him that way, I quite fancy giving him the Nova Marines colourscheme, however, does it matter if I leave the deathwatch should pad on? Almost like he's returned to his chapter after completing his deathwatch mission, do they keep their one shoulderpad?

quick replies would be appreciated

Quick answer - Yes they do!

That is a great model - got one myself. I found that the he benefitted from either a larger base or weighing his base down as he does tend to topple over. I mounted him on to a Dreadnought base just to stop topple damage to such a great model.

Thanks Lestat!

its settled then, he will be a Nova marine.

yeah thanks for the tip, I am scared about him toppling over and I will weigh the base down, I sadly don't have a spare dread base and I was just so eager to get cracking I made do, it is a great miniature, hopefully get some pictures up tomorrow :P

If you have some plasti-card or some thin MDF lying around, you can easily make a cheap and effective base. I find a pair of compasses helps too ;)

now theres a thought I have double tech on monday I could nick the laser cutter and make him a nice round stepped base....*ponders thought*

Or convince/bribe your tutor into letting you build one as a project :P

I have a question, if I may. Does Artemis come with a helmet option or no? I have seen several with a helmet and I'm wondering if that was a limited thing or something.

GW put out an Inquisitor marine helmet accessory sprue back when the specialist games were still core products, I think you can still mail order them.

might have worked if I wasn't already doing my project :P

oooo thats a big one lol

(would take me about a year to paint ohmy.gif )

It shouldn't take me quite that long.....but I've been wrong before!!

All I can say is have fun, I loved painting mine so much I'm gonna strip it and do it again lol.

I am having fun thanks :o, so much so that I may order another one!

He's gonna look great when you get it painted. Are you gonna doo anything special with the base( any extra details? ect.)

Good luck

Don't worry the base will be changed hopefully, it won't stay bland and small, not sure what but there will be something ;)

thanks for the interest everyone, I've been slaving away painting the legs up today and last night, they're almost there, a few touch up's needed though....

The brown scratch marks on the left leg, don't worry they WILL be removed! I really cocked them up and they don't look good.

I have to say he looks quite messy in these pictures but you'll have to believe me that he isn't in real life, I truly hate cameras!

I'm also not sure about the sliver deathwatch shoulder pad......maybe thats just because the rest isn't painted yet :P

so we'll have to wait and see.

the lighting wasn't that good either so I'll post some better pictures tomorrow lunch time!

In the mean time thanks for all your interest and feedback would be appreciated! :)

Daniel

A quick note..

when viewing the pictures click on the link but don't enlarge them, he looks awful if you do, he looks better if you just leave them as they are once you click on the link

They're OOP Unfortunately. The kit has absolutely no options atm. Hopefully that'll all change in a year or two.

its crazy there is a sprue of the 3 helmets on gaybay at the moment and there on £16 when they where released they where £5 lol im lucky tho as i have 3 of them for my marines.

one question tho deathwatch marines paint there armour black while in service and it reverts back to there original chapter once they leave. whats the fluff behind him not having black armour if there is any?

that said i love the paint sceme so far

they do indeed, and I asked this question myself in my first place, I didn't want him to be in the deathatch because I hate black, so asked if its possible that a marine can finish his service in the deathwatch and revert back to his original chapters colours and STILL maintain the shoulder pad, and...Lestat, i think it was, said they do.

I've got some more pictures to upload so give me an hour and there will be another update!

My knowledge of inquisitor is almost none existant but i do from time to time sit and salivate over the models. Lets face it, they are bigger and nicer! Artemis is one of my favourite models from the inquisitor line and i have to say i love what you've done with him so far! The nova marine colours are a great touch.

Cant wait to see the final product!

It is looking GREAT at the moment and thanks to you posting a photo next to a normal sized marine I can thank you sir you have made me decide on a basis for my new khornate daemon Prince based off the witch hunter guy with the black and gold armour.

No thankyou very much for the compliment ;)

If you do buy that witch hunter and convert him I'd really like to see how you get along with it

well my friend you're not alone, I to have NO knowledge of Inquisitor and so I bought Artemis just for fun because as you said, the model is fantastic! you won't have to wait long, maybe 2 days until he's done completely.

I beleive AWESOMETACULAR is the word I'm looking fore. From what I can se your Arty is detailed, but not crazy detailed. I must say I'm inspired. Well and truly inspired. I might have to see if I can get one of these babies for my knew Chapter myself.

I'd recommend it, its a great model and looks SO cool! He is detailed but not everythign is done at the moment, all the little tidbits are left to paint so we'll see how it goes!

Another quick update! After dropping him on the floor *cries uncontrollably*, I decided to paint each section seperately so I could reach alll the nooks and crannies, I'm now wondering why I glued him together in the first place!

There is still a bit to do as you can see..

finish the bolter,

finish the sword

backpack

highlights

scroll work

and so and so forth but he shall be finished soon!
