Hear da Lamentation
With WG - when you swop your bolt pisol for the combi weapon ... it seems to me this would mean you lose an attack in close combat as you dont have a bolt pistol. Am I correct? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193610-combi-weapon/ Share on other sites
whiteraven17708
i believe (correct me if im wrong) that the combi is "in addition" to the bolt pistol... say it gets hosltered if you will and that a combat situation would allow you to draw the pistol and still gain your addition attack Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193610-combi-weapon/#findComment-2300151 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
Wolf Guard replace their pistol and/or close combat weapon for a weapon from the list so you would lose the extra attack. Some people find it odd that Grey Hunters have more weapons than Wolf Guard, I don't. Natanael
Mikal is correct. CSM Asp. Champs have all the stuff, and get a bonus since they change their bolter for combi, but keep their pistol. WGs dont have bolter, ccw and bp and so they have to change the bp. Hear da Lamentation
That makes the combi weapon quite a bit worse. I guess you have to decide if he needs to shoot or if you want that extra attack (if you give him a power weapon for instance.) Makes powerfist a more sensible option as well I guess as you wouldnt get the extra attack for the bolt pistol anyway Thanks guys. Commander Sasha
Depends on the unit: losing an attack on asn uber-killy power weapon guy is bad, but one S4 no power is no great loss if you gain a melta, or flame 4-6 bugs. Chucku
On Wolf Guard you do. I put combis on WG leaders with PFs, since they can't benefit from an extra attack anyway. The combi weapon loss of an attack isn't a major issue because WG are better served with PF and TH if they are pack leaders. If you want to strike at I give them a WC because that doesn't benefit from a BP either. If they are in a pure WG unit odds are they will be wearing TDA and the issue is moot Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193610-combi-weapon/#findComment-2300255 Share on other sites
Stormshrug
Wolf Guard replace their pistol and/or close combat weapon for a weapon from the list so you would lose the extra attack. Some people find it odd that Grey Hunters have more weapons than Wolf Guard, I don't. Ah, here's a question I've had for a while: Can you put multiple Combi-Weapons on a single Wolf Guard? It says "Replace their pistol and/or CCW," but this is obviously ambiguous - is that "/" optional, or always true in some cases and never true in others. If so, what specifies the cases where it is true? (Nothing that I have found seems to specify which weapons on the list require you to replace both the BP and the CCW). It seems like a really legalistic reading would say that, since it doesn't specify which weapons require you to replace both, you can dual-wield ostensibly two-handed weapons. Of course, the "obvious" gut instinct reading of the rules is "No, you can't have two Combi-Meltas, that's stupid." Combi-Weapon/Power Weapon seems less downright stupid conceptually, though (even if it's awful, which mathhammer would suggest it is), and pretty much deals with the same rules. Not that it's terribly relevant, since I suspect it's painfully sub-optimal in the best of situations. I just find the idea of a Wolf Guard who is so enamored with the explosions from both his Combi-Melta and his Combi-Flamer that he refuses to leave either behind (and hence lugs them both around all the time "Just in case!") downright hilarious. -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193610-combi-weapon/#findComment-2302674 Share on other sites
Freman Bloodglaive
Rules as written yes, you can replace both your bolt pistol and close combat weapon with combi-weapons. Actually that would be kind of cool. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193610-combi-weapon/#findComment-2302682 Share on other sites

Yeah, I was fairly amused when I stumbled upon it. I wouldn't try to run it in a tournament or anything, but since I've only got one and I mostly play with friends, it's a funny little trick to include. -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193610-combi-weapon/#findComment-2302691 Share on other sites

Hfran Morkai
one of our cunning wolf brothers (can't remember who) runs a scout pack WG with 2xcombi-melta and MOTW Yeah, seeing that made me chuckle, trying to put a name to the idea though is proving ineffective. Means you've got another shot should you actually need it in subsequent turns. Plus the modeling opportunities of wielding two combi weapons is awesome.
