Thought I'd share with you guys what I have been working on this past few weeks. Here's my 2000 pt all-comers list, led by Ragnar and a Rune Priest. The entire thing is magnetized, including every single arm (except for the missile launchers which are completely glued). I can literally swap out any options on any troop or vehicle model, even adding hunter killer missiles and "dozer blades" to rhinos.

I used 95% 1/8" x 1/16" rare earth magnets.

Very cool. I've thought about magnetizing some marines especially ICs. Must've been a long process to do that many minis.

Kudos, man. :woot:

So far I've just done my LRC/LRR and it's awesome. What a money saver (I'm not likely to need both on the field any time soon). Taking a look at the current predator model. That would be a prime candidate for magnetizing.

Ultimately it's a $$ saver.

The vehicles took the most time, only because it took a little bit to decide how best to go about the project and then tinkering with how it would all fit together. Once you have a system down, it is actually fairly quick. The pin vice w/ 1/8" bit is an absolute must.

For the marines themselves, you just have to lay everything out so you know which arms you want to go with each model (to preserve the individuality and unique pose, etc). You just drill all the holes and then glue and magnetize as you go. It will actually speed up the process of painting because you don't have to work around arms that have been glued on.

I got my magnets from a TX based company: magnets4less.com. They were easy to work with and fairly fast delivery.

I have just started using magnets for my mini's and so far I like how they are coming out. Here is the sizes that I am using for my Space Wolves.

Rare Earth Magnets

1/16" x 1/32" Disc - for my Grey Wolves, Blood Claws, Scouts, etc.

1/8" x 1/16" Disc - I am going to be using for my Terminators and Dreads.

1/4" x 1/16" Disc - I am using these for my Land Speeders, Predator, and any other vehicles.

I have gotten magnets from http://store.miniwargaming.com but I have found that they are expensive. I am planning on trying http://www.kjmagnetics.com when I start my Dreads and terminators.

Just make sure that you have the polarities that go together.
