Andse Posted March 1, 2010 Share Posted March 1, 2010 Hello! This is a marine I painted yesterday, testing the color scheme for my "soon to be" Ravenwing army. I've tried a few new techniques (atleast for me) as the only thing I've painted with before is Viva Metallica, washes only and a single space hulk termie.. I'd really like some C&C and I'm really looking to improve! Base obviously needs some work :jaw: Any ideas what would fit? Kronk Posted March 1, 2010 Share Posted March 1, 2010 I like the lining. Especially on the shoulder pads and feet. The freehand on the gun is excellent. White paint is a PITA to pull off on dark primer, so your helmet looks a little chalky. The black-lining also disappears on the helmet at one point. (I paint black templar and struggle with white on black primer all of the time. :) ) The base needs something. Rocks, flocking, something. I don't like plain bases. The blue on the scope is excellent! That really jumps out at me. Fine work, there! The wing on the one shoulder pad looks a little off. Better than I can do, but I can't hardly tell what it's supposed to be. The eyes are great. So, that's my feedback. I think you did a great job. I like the colors. Alas I have to agree that the white on the helm is a little chalky the shading lines do seem to vanish. Other than that it looks great. Andse Posted March 1, 2010 Author Share Posted March 1, 2010 Thanks for the kind words :P I know the blacklining on the helmet disappeared on that one spot and I'm fixing it now :) Totally forgot about it.. It's a bit chalky, yes.. But it's only noticeable on a closeup, and I'll hopefully do better on my bikes :) I was a bit bugged about the wing too, so I've not redone it and I'm also planning to give battle damage a go :) Update will follow soon! Andse Posted March 3, 2010 Author Share Posted March 3, 2010 I've done some more work on the marine and he is now completely finished at this is how I'll do my ravenwing once I get some bikes ;) You might notice that I've tried to do some battle damage and I think I did okay..
