Legacy
I have some models whose paint job I literally cant stand. How the devil to I get the paint off? So far nail polish remover and paint thinner have not worked. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193708-removing-the-paint/ Share on other sites

Spazmonkey
Simple Green or Break fluid, Â Break fluid works best, but you need to look for a non corrosive type, and wear gloves... and do it some where there is fresh air... Warhorse47
Pine Sol works very well. Let em sit in it a day or two, and use an old toothbrush. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193708-removing-the-paint/#findComment-2301374 Share on other sites
stvnpc
One product that I found that worked like magic was Simple Green. You can find it at Walmart, Home Depot. Lowes, Grocery Store. Soak them for about 30 minutes (test to see if the paint is coming off) and use a tooth brush on them to get the paint off. Grey Mage
Metal or plastic? Got much time? Â I find that a peice of terry cloth and alot of rubbing will get the paint off a plastic mini, and then a spunge and a tooth cleaner to get the rest out of the crevaces. Logan230
+1 for Simple Green! good stuff, that or break fluid. Outside of the carefulness about working with brake fluid, Simple Green is uber-concentrated. according to the instructions you are supposed to cut it 10:1 with water. found that out when i was cleaning mold off of my girl's window, we got high :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193708-removing-the-paint/#findComment-2301680 Share on other sites

Taeken
Purple Power from Wal-Mart. It's an engine degreaser you can find in the automotive department.   Totally. A couple days soaking then 90% comes off with water. Add in a little tooth brush scrubbin and its done! I've used it on both metal and plastic. Add in the fact that a gallon only runs 3-4$ its really nice. CainTheHunter
Pure acetone - great for metals. I've found it useful for plastics as well, but you must be very careful - don't let them soak in it, because they will start melting in a minute. Instead I am using an acetone-soaked piece of cotton, which I apply for a short period of time to the portion of plastic mini which I want to strip from paint. It is important to wash the plastic mini under the water after each time You've applied the acetone. With metals, I simply leave them soaking for a day.
