NuclearMessiah
Ok this is an opinion thread. What I would like to hear is of the current model ranges (GW and FW) what do you think the IWs would use and why. Ill start with one. The Hades Breaching Drill http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/hades.htm This one is easy. Its a drill meant to go under the defense of an enemy. Great for getting past them pesky walls the enemy shoot you from. Corpse.
Because so many things go wrong with a machine meant to drill, it takes a little damage it's down. Vindicators are used for this purpose. Blow holes and keep blowing at the hole until it's pushed through. The shock of the blast loosens beyond the blast point. One or two vindicators work on the same hole... Keeps on working at it. If one is damages, too hot and overworked or runs out of ammo another vindi replaces it. Standard marine siege tactics. But I can see why that could be used. Iron warriors use everything so to speak. Rev. Tiberius Jackhammer
The Cyclops. Marines are rare, little tools like this which can keep them out of some dangerous situations would be well-used. Also, every single artillery vehicle ever. minigun762
I'd say the answer would be anything and everything almost. The IA article makes a specific reference to the elite of the IW having access to a wide variety of specialized equipment. Legatus
This would probably be their kind of vehicle. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193960-the-iron-warriors-and-looted-equipment/#findComment-2305495 Share on other sites
Walter Payton
I reckon that powerful Warsimths might be packing one of these, The real Cyclops Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193960-the-iron-warriors-and-looted-equipment/#findComment-2305510 Share on other sites
NuclearMessiah
Ok yes I "could" grab any tank I want and slap some spiky bits on it paint it silver and call it a day ;) But besides that I tend to like to justify my choices within the fluff (something related to siege craft or fortification) of my army, for example I couldn’t imagine any reason they would take lets say a Leman Russ. But on I think anything that is artillery I could see them taking as well as super heavies if not, for any reason other then to agitate the imperials cause they stole their precious super tank. On a more serious note I was looking at the shadowsword variants and was thinking the ones with firing platforms on the back are so much more epic for CSM since they pack heavy weapons in 1 man teams not 2 man heavy weapons teams ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/193960-the-iron-warriors-and-looted-equipment/#findComment-2305833 Share on other sites
Lord of Worms
The original legions had Fellblades as part of their original formations. That is a good way to start. But seriously, anything and everything is fair game. Thats their thing. Its fluffy for IW, it makes sense tactically (they're slow and can't go in normal Transports so you're moving them up the board while protecting them). With the Stormlord, you can fit 20 Oblits in there, thats 20 Lascannons or 20 Plasma Cannons being fired out. Dreachon
Specialised siege equipment that my own grand company has involes - siege dreadnought - medusa - bombard - basilik - banesword - stormlord All of these will fit as they fit a siege theme, hell you could even thrown in an ordinatus or the giant siege engines from "fallen angels", since they were granted to Perturabo.
