Chaos Knight Steeds as thunderwolves?

Yeah they look really good if done properly. They make way more sense creatively and financially. In fact, the whole chaos warrior range works really well with SWs. Fluffwise they are fairly easy to justify. In my army i say that a particular batch of recruits from Fenris prefer their traditional mounts they used when they were still in their tribes and these horse have undergone simlar genetic manipulation as Astartes to make them more resilient and able to bear a marine's weight.

Here's some WIP pics of one of my guys:

Looking great! my entire army is made from the warriors of chaos-box (at least all the GHs and most chars.) With the thunderwolves tough, I will go with the "huntsman and his hounds"-idea someone over here had. Just glued my first dire wolf together actually.

But I think they look great!

Also, about making them with fur and stuff to make them wolves, dont. The anatomy or whatever it is called is not the same. Horse and wolf are different breeds and their limbs bend differently and stuff like that.

They look AWESOME. Finally I have an inspiration to build my onw Thunder(wolf) cavalry in the same way. Thank you very much for these pics. I was thinking about using bikes but as it turns out this is far better and I thing totally legal and not too costly.

Is that all from the Chaos knights (apart from the head, chainsword arm, and shoulderpads..)? it looks really good :woot:

Does anyone actually have in game experiance with thunderwolfs ? I really want to use them, but when thinking i was going to test them out (just using LOTR wargs) against Nobz (in battlewagon) i thought, well a unit of 5 with a lord, is going to cost the same as 10 nobs and Ghaz in a battlewagon pretty much, and i don't think they are quite up to the same standard....unless they are?

There are a lot of threads on the usefulness of thunderwolves already, but I think they are very well worth it. Not a unit of 5+Lord, but 2x3 + 2 Iron Priests with 4x Cyberwolves. Thats 4 quite scary units right there and costs only around 750 points the way I run them. Just dont forget a WP or WGBL w/ saga of the wolfkin for I5 on your cybers.
