Yeah he might be able to cast three a turn, but we can dispell three a turn on 4+ and psykic hoods (unless they have been changed to fit in with our rune weapons) need to roll equal or above us in a roll off (well you add the Ld but since its ten most of the time it doesn't matter).

IIRC they said that you couldnt just buy a LR, it had to be a dedicated transport... and DSing just means its closer to the meltaguns.

And since they arent fast vehicles they cant fire the turn they land save the one gun...

Definitely melta bait.

Not to mention the fact that it actually sucks for a LR. If you want whatever it's got inside to charge, you have to get within 6-8". And than there is a good chance that you will either scatter to far away, or scatter on top of enemy units.

Still, the thing is ridiculous. I mean come on, dropping a LR from a thunderhawk? That's not going to deep strike, that's going to go splat!

Marshal Hellmund

I think 6 units of 10 grayhunters with 2 meltas each and 4 rune priests with tempests wrath are going to be needed to spread across the table and play the waiting game :( My friend has never used tanks in his BA's now all of a sudden he's gathering cash for land raiders and baals... good work GW, they know what they're doing lmao.

not to mention the fact thatwhatever was inside couldn't assault as they would have entered play using deepstrike... i would punch anyone that tried it without there being a specal rule written in the codex... and even if there was i may still just because we can't.... i mean if anyone was gonna mistreat a piece of equipmnt it would be space wolves messing around and getting drunk :(

'uhh frank, what happened to the land raider?'

'its in the back of the thunderhawk'

'can't see it anywhere?'

frank heads out back... 'ahh' he says as he looks through the open hatch at a slowly shrinking landraider as it plummets to the ground. 'i hope bob wasn't still putting the new treads on'

That may be argued that the LR is the unit deep striking and not the unit inside. Yea I know it sounds stupid but I can hear the arguments now.

"Vehicles count as moving at cruising speed for deep striking..blah...blah"

I can't imagine how something like LR can deepstrike... Why then Baneblades cannot teleport in?

Don't you think something like this could do it?

Thunderhawk transport

Well then I think they should have to present a Thunderhawk to prove how it came on the board.

DA FAQ states that models inside a drop pod count as deepstriking as the vehicle deep struck. Baring a special rule, BA will not be able to assault from a deep striking land raider.

Thankfully we have the DA FAQ that specificly states that units inside a deep striking transport count as deepstriking. Not to mention you cant get out of a transport thats moved at cruising speed unless its open topped....

Done and done.

edit: Oops, James1 beat me to it.... Fast Attack mod indeed.

its worth remembering that their land raiders are dedicated transports, which means they can onlt carry the squad they were brought for if they wish to deepstrike. not as scary if its filled with tactical marines is it...

also units with jump packs are unable to purchase most transports (don't know whether the new flyer is a transport for them or not) so alot of thier scariest units can't take them.

also its huge, the chances of it landing on your guys is pretty high if they wish to land it close, otherwise they have to land it a safe distance away which means they may as well just deploy it normall.

lastly the against IG for instance it will struggle to get on the board when they want and against us, well we have alot of shortrange death waiting for it should it happen to land near us

How much of a pain in the ass do you think and how much beer will it take to take out a squad of SS / TH terminators with a sanguinary priest in terminator armour that gives them FC and FNP and what about if the succumb to the red third and become fearless? God +2/++3 with FNP gives me more nightmares than fielding carnifexes in a straight line wheere a rune priest is just waiting with jotww. thankfully, the terminators cost 5 points more than standard terminators and the priest with terminator armour is 80 points.

thanks

FNP on termies with storm shields doesn't worry me at all. Storm shields are great, they worry me. adding FNP doesn't, why? because if i shoot at them and they need to use their storm shields so that they don't de they won't get FNP (no FNP against ap 1/2, wounds that ignore armour and ID weaponry). the only thing it does is make them harder to kill with standard weapons, well they were already hard to kill and its only 50/50 so not as much of an issue as far as im concerned.

having them armed with thunder hammers and with furious charge is pointless unless your charging a vehicle.

the only thing that worries me is LC armed termies with FC, but guess what we can do that too.

im looking forward to some hard fights while i learn how to counter their new abilites but i highly doubt they are as uber as a lot of people are saying. everything has its weakness, if one of their units has FC then simply don't let it charge you if its at all possible and suddenly not as bad.

Sure some units will seem hard and painful but then so do some of ours. I say bring them on, and lets have some fun... and ale...

at least they aren't sneaky little gits like the dress wearing pansies... no blood angel would punch a wolf while hes not looking

No they'd probably just try to cop a feel.

Anywho, what happens to vehicles landing in dangerous terrain? Thats when they roll and a 1 immobilises them aint it? coz a rune priest with tempests wrath should easily make a land raider think twice about where it wants to land lol.
